I'm a little infatuated with my old Stude, especially since we seem to have the bugs worked out with the new engine. NEVER dreamed I would go 10.50's in this old thing. DSC_0286.JPG

When I was a jr high kid, circa 1982, there was a muffler shop in town. The owner, Mike, had a brown primered 1956 Ford F100 big window, that was slammed, with about 150 louvers in the hood. Red Steelies with caps and rings. 429/C6

It was his only car. Daily driver. That truck has always been in my mind. I don’t have any pics but you get the idea.

Yes, back when I was a muscle car guy this 32 ford Tudor popped in Hot Rod. WOW, I love that thing, fast, a little rough where is won’t matter. I still have the mag somewhere and it’s hammered.

So, thanks @Pete Eastwood for a killer car that has been something I have lusted over for years.

I seen this chopped 32 three window at the Ford Restorers car show in Dearborn, July of 1976, I was just going on 14 at the time. It was the coolest thing on wheels ever and still does it for me. Just a wheel change and I'm good. 32 3 window.jpg

I knew that was Randy's car! He had a great looking 3 window coupe, as well.

  16. I was with this while I was building it, and then for a few years after that, but eventually, like so many other cars I've built/owned, my infatuation subsides, and I'm onto something else.
    I ended up selling it.
Their is a pattern here for me, I tend to not keep cars too long.

Infatuation? Maybe. But back in the 60's as a high school kid I wanted a 1939 Chev coupe. not a sedan, and not really any other year of the 30's. I stumbled into a deal on a 1940 Chev coupe a friend had and bought it for $50. Drove it home too! It was that complete, and very straight too! But it wasn't the grille I liked. In fact I disliked the 1940 grille, and for a long time I tried to find a 1939 front clip to swap on to my '40!
Eventually I went into the military, and when I returned home in '71 I sold the '40 to a friend, and never got around to owning a '39 Chev coupe. Until April 2019, when I was perusing the Portland Swap meet and stumbled into a '39 Chev coupe project. I tried to not buy it, and did everything I could to talk the seller out of selling it. But in the end he made it too easy to buy, and I pulled out my wallet.
So coming up on two years this April, and I'm not done, but I do finally have a driving '39 Chev coupe after more than 50 years admiring them.

And my friend still has the 1940 Chev coupe I sold him over 50 years ago! But it looks much nicer than it did when I owned it!

    1971BB427,

I know what you mean about being focused on one particular car. Mine was a '37 Chevy 2 door sedan. Not a '38, not a coupe. I like the grill on the 37 not so much on the 38. Same with the hood louvers. This stemmed from one I saw on a used car lot back in '66. I found mine on the hook of a wrecker 25 years later. Now, 30 years after that, it has come to the top of the heap. Hope to have it going this summer.

  28. I love Fords from most decades, it's almost always Fords for my dream list- black model A's, black 40 Fords, 56 Fairlanes, big block galaxies, and always black wall tyres, never really a fan of whitewalls.
So having said that, the car that infatuates me, that I reckon is 100% perfect, and blows me away even when I see the avatar pop up in a thread, yes even more then the Gratiot auto supply t-shirt avatar,
    it's;

    gotgasw.jpg
Gotgas' 57 Chrysler - thats a badass piece of work.
