Not much to show. I have finished all the welding and grinding on the body. Still have to weld up the tailgate. The body is ready to DA and put on a couple coats of epoxy. Doing some other Uph projects right now, but one of these days It’ll get in epoxy.

Haven’t worked on the Ranchero until lately. Did get the tailgate all welded up and fit. Last few days to get away from welding/grinding I decided to chop the vent windows. Finished up the right side this morning. Still needs some filing, sanding and polishing, but came out working well. Now on to the left.

I think you did a perfect job on the vent windows. They take a lot of patients to get correct.
Be sure you get it really spotless before epoxy because thats your first step in your paint job.
I have always wanted to build a 40 Ranchero.

Just found this thread looking through the site. I saw the title & had an idea it was going to be something unique, the point you marked the pillars & roof up I thought to myself "no don't chop it! That'll ruin its lines"... Boy was I wrong just trawled the 9pages and it was going from strength to strength. Fantastic execution on this vision from inside your head. I can't wait to see it come out the garage for the final time. I'm not normally a fan of the DIY utes or trucks. The rear window/roof tends to be there fall. but your use of the F1 & 49 looks a match made in heaven.

I'll certainly be following this thread now in anticipation

Is it just my eyes or maybe the photo angle, or does the side window look wider at the top with the new vent window installed?

It’s the photo angle. I noticed it too. It measures correct top to bottom. Even put the door glass in this morning to check everything out. Works great. Working on the left side now.

I was thinking the same thing, but assumed it was the photo. Glad it all works as planned.

The car is really taking shape now... great job!

I just read through the thread again( about the third time) every angle still looks like it was a factory build, it's a beautiful vehicle.

Just thought about this car yesterday! We took a 200 mile drive with 5 Model T's and A's and drove by a house that I remember having a shoebox Ranchero in the early 70's that was built many years earlier. I always wondered where it went and where it is today. It was painted white and had some nice custom touches.

It takes some time to go over all 9 pages of this thread, but it’s well worth it. You have done a fantastic job of building a 50 ranchero. I can’t wait to see the finished car.

Done and done...both sides filed, sanded and polished. If any one would like the templates for the outer and inner frames and glass let me know. 4” chop at B pillar.

It can be a real bitch some times. Honey do this, when you get done, the washing machine is leaking and the screen door doesn’t close‘ did you cut the bushes. I would love to help but the commute would be too long. I know she’ll what you are going thru, maybe we have too much talent. What do the others do? Frank
