Folks Of Interest Are you happy with your Hot Rod or Custom?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Dec 17, 2019.

  1. A couple of my friends were talking today and naturally we talked old cars and the question was brought up if we were happy with our cars or is there something else you want? do you have your dream car?

In our conversation it seems I was the only one content with my old beater, I've owned it a very long time and don't know of anything I would trade it for. HRP

I don't think I'll ever be able to afford my dream car. If I can get mine done the way I want in a timely manner, and without to many major obstacles, other than the floors, I'll be a pretty happy camper

I am very happy with my roadster. I though about the build so long before starting it. It turned out just like I wanted.

I'm very happy with my two old trucks and my off-topic daily driver. When somebody asks to buy one of my rides, usually the '37, I say sorry, it's not for sale. I'd just have to turn around and start looking for another one like it to buy.

Yes. Just got 2 other projects I wish were at least close to done/driveable.

  6. I wish it rode better...but then, I'm OLD.

  7. Tom, I know this won't come as a news flash but your roadster is short wheel base, sit's right and will never be a cushy ride, some sacrifices have to be made to drive a sweat ride like yours. HRP

  9. As far as Taboo goes, I am very happy with the car. It was always a dream for my grandfather and I to get the car back so getting that opportunity and restoring the car was a dream come true. Plus we were able to fulfill Ron's last wish with the car before his passed away and that was get the car inducted into the Portland Roadster Show Hall of Fame.

Mow my 33 Ford Pickup on the other hand, I am still happy to have that pickup as it has had such a huge impact on my life as I have grown up in and around that pickup, but she is needed to finally be torn back down and redone again and I have some big changes planned for it, mainly interior and undercarriage changes and wanting it to shed its 80's and 90's street rod stuff to become a early to mid 60s style hot rod.

I was happy with my coupe until things started wearing out and I had to start working on it again. I'll probably be happy with it when I've finished fixing it again.
I'm not very happy with the truck I built, its too small to suit my my desires. This one was the first of this old of a truck and I'm a bit too tall to sit in it comfortably, so I'm rounding up stuff to build a replacement for it. I think I'll be happy with the replacement, I've had one of those before. Gene

I've had my projects for too long to think of parting with them, besides nobody ever said they wanted one. Bob

  12. It’s just like building a house. After you move in there is always something you wished you did different. I am happy with my 32’s but there are somethings I would and may change.

When I was a little kid, I saw a car with"wings" and asked my dad what it was. '57 Chevies have been it for me ever since. Blown, straight axle cars are as hairy looking as they come. Yes, I drive my dream car.

I love my truck, and have for the twenty years that I built it ago. I went with flat black before it was cool, it is known as my truck, never would sell it but if I did the new owner would be asked if it were my old truck. It is part of me, my sculpture, my artwork, something my family also treasures, I doubt it will leave my family when I finally do. DSC05379.JPG DSC05380.JPG DSC05383.JPG

This one has been pretty nice, over the 5 years I've had it going.

The others...need some work. One day, I'll figure them out.

Overall I've been happy with all my hobby cars, I did change from a Hot Rod style to a Kustom type for comfort, I like Kustoms. I've been happy with my Mercury, just looking to reduce inventory. One thing among a few others I've learned is "Never Say Never" Another hobby car could happen, not dead yet, then that's when I'll be done. LOL

I am happy with it for what it is, FUN. But if I start looking at it and see things I want to change, one thing leads to another and another so I happy with a unfinished beater.

Yes. I know it inside and out. Is it finished? No. Working on a heater install right now. After that who knows. But I’m sure something will come up. Snowman

I have a car like my 1st car a 1940 Ford coupe. No other car really "blows " my dress up like a 40 Ford. No interior but I drive it 5 to 6 times a week. I am stoked to have mine and drive and enjoy it as much as I do. Later Bill
