  4. I fell in love with this car back in April. I sold quiet a bit to get it. It just spoke to me.

    IMG_1902[1].jpg IMG_2044[1].jpg IMG_2047[1].jpg

This is what the car once was:

    Thunderbird[1].jpg

The previous owners got this car at some point and spent the last 50 years dismantling it. The car came equipped with a 9.3 Olds rear end and homemade ladder bars that extended all the way to the front of the doors on the frame.

At some point, someone was planning a Ford Toploader transmission conversion and gave up. I was lucky to get it in the deal. Its from a '64 1/2 Mustang, and it has the small pattern that fits behind a Y Block. It also still has an original Hurst shifter connected to it. The car was never set up for anything but a Y Block. I got my hands on a '56 Mercury 312 back in June.

As a factory car, this model of Thunderbird was fully loaded: power steering, power seat, power windows, and power brakes. I've struggled the whole year with whether to restore it to a factory car or to restoring it to the race car it once was. I've landed right in the middle.

The last time the car was on the road, someone had painted it a Lincoln Continental silver with a '57 Thunderbird black vinyl top. I'm going to restore it to the way the car was the last time it was on the road. Anything that was done in a shady manner will be properly fixed this time around while retaining its historical look. I want to preserve this car's provenance.

This is what the car looks like presently:

No pictures, but, got a radio for a project, headlight rings and a AMC 401. Finally got a 1958 Edsel radio. Missing knobs and the chrome bezel unfortunately. Got a pair of headlight rings off a 1955/56 Dodge 4 door Lancer. Liked how they looked and took them home. All from a local pick a part junk yard.

Saved Dominique from the restorers. It's going to be a slow restoration, but she's in the garage. Now and in '62. 20191104_163442 (2).jpg DS3.jpg

  16. Ok I have a binder frame & axles that has been made into a trailer. It still has the differential brakes hubs & drums. it has 700 -20 tires. binder trailer 005.JPG binder trailer 004.JPG binder trailer 006.JPG binder trailer 007.JPG binder trailer 008.JPG Had no idea what it was when I bought it. The experts here on the HAMB quickly identified it as being a international.

  19. I had to start and finish something quick as the 30 Coupe is just taking to long.
Saved from just being used as a storage place to keep parts off the ground for the last 5+ years, added more leftovers and this is 2019s major achievement for the year .
Fun to build with the help from some mates and fun to hoot around in the dust for 5 days.

WOW some really nice scores! Cars, trucks, engines and parts. Really cool shops too.
This was a good year for me also. Finally got my shop put up. Wood stove and power coming soon.
So I went to my fathers back yard and dragged my 49 Chevy 2 door Deluxe home so I can get on it.

2019- bought garage, saved 49 Chevy from woods.

  26. There was this old race shop that I had been watching stuff sitting outside. One day I saw a dumpster and a front loader loading the dumpster, I stopped. Turns out the owner had passed a few years ago and his wife was cleaning up. I truly pulled this junk out of the scrap pile.

A pair of '32 rails that can only be described as a "kit". Have since found an A rear cross memb with spring, bought a So-cal front cross memb, 35 front axle and 'bones, and 35-37 center x rails with a 39 pedal bracket. No body in hand yet.

    What should this become?
I'm thinking early to mid '60s style with a Pontiac tri-power backed by a T-10 (have both) Buick finned brakes and Raider mags with piecrust cheater slicks.
