Maybe all his time went to the Valiant.....regardless job well done. I really like the black rear wheels. That reminds me of drag racing from the 50's and 60's.
Anymore info on the car such as drive line???

That car reminds me of a yellow Barracuda that a guy drove back in about 68 or 69 in New Mexico, he somehow shoe horned some huge tires under the back of it. We both worked at the "Apollo Site" east of Las Cruces, I'd forgotten that guy, I suppose he's old just like me:( Thanks for helping me dredge up a memory, the car looks darn good:)

Got to go for a ride in one of those cars. Impressive as I recall. Dark blue, 273 and a four speed.

  10. Nice Valiant. The Pontiac SD scoop really works well on it. More pics and info please! I have enjoyed seeing other Valiant's since acquiring mine as a shell in in 94. KIMG0028.JPG

Do I recall correctly that these cars had a single exhaust pipe that was essentially square? Just remember thinking it was very cool looking. Old age and old memory may have clouded my recollection.

The square exhaust tip came only on the high output (235 hp) 273.

  13. Not meaning to be too nit-picky here, but the scoop with the grille would make it a Super Duty Ford dump truck unit. Pontiac did, indeed use the Ford scoop, but not the grille, in it's own Super Duty program.

  14. Nice build there....own a late 64 drop top that came with the 273.....and have had a bunch more.....

One of my favorite Mopar body styles. Much under appreciated.

  18. Yup! Nobody could figure out mine, it’s the same body style as the op’s. I love that car.

We had a 65 Barracuda, originally was a 273, 4 speed car, it came to me with a transplanted 318, retaining the factory 4 speed. That was a really fun little car, light and quick!
It was my wife's car, she wanted it, so I bought it for her. She didn't much like the 4 speed, but I sure did. She did learn to drive the 4 speed, eventually. I probably sold it to buy something "better".
The body was really nice, but the interior was shot. Back then, a stock replacement interior was over $1,000, and I couldn't afford it. We had 2 little kids, and they didn't much like that big back window. Things added up, and the car was sent to a new home. Gene

Yeah,it been a while.thanks for all the comments .it is a 273 with a Indy floor shifter,Ford 8.8 rear,so thats probably where the hood scoop came from,!I have been making improvements cleaned up the suspension ,wiring, gauges, and most notably the scoop.i am tinkering with a air grabber air cleaner trying to get it fitted properly.its a sweet little rod and I’m having a ball smoking it up around the city. My favorite past car was a 65 Dart gt version of that. 235hp 273/4sp. Replaced the 3.23 rear with a 3.55 out of a 55 Chrysler of all things, lots of interchange on the early Mopars. That year came with a 50K engine warranty, and mine started burning oil at 45+. Local dealer lost his mechanics, got way behind on work so made a deal. He provided parts from stock and I installed them. When the factory paid out the labor, the dealer gave me a check for working on my own car! First and last time ever. Warranty covered rod and main bearings, rings and gasket set. I installed PC valve stem seals, roller timing chain and the 66 version cam (250HP) on my dime.

Black with that goofy little white vinyl half top with red interior. Really fun little car.

Big Valiant fan here, sweet little ride OP. My high school ride was a '64 Signet 200 2dr/ht. 273/235, 4sp w/factory Hurst, maroon w/black bucket interior. Rode pretty hard before I got it, I bettered it to best of my abilities at the time. Looking back, it was a learning experience. My first introduction to a "Motors" manual. That little 273 was pretty snappy in proper tune!:D

Oh me little droogie, with a scoop that biggie you need one of two things: steel stonies, or a gobsmacking Hemi! Otherwise you got a Wopar Weenie Kar, driven by a posuer.
