I ordered 1/8" poly carbonate from Sheffield plastics, this stuff is amazing.
I could not shatter it with a hammer, and can run it thru my bead roller.
    d21.JPG d22.JPG d23.JPG
I meant to form a larger wind screen later, but did not get around to it. I did
run it thru the step dies so it would but up to the cowel flange. I did use a heat
gun, but could get by without it.

Can't have to many clamps. Yes I love machinest spray blueing. It
helps these old eyes see the line. d26.JPG d27.JPG
This panel is running a 1 1/2" past the firewall as there will be another panel below the headers.

I finaly located the hole for the steering, I had fabricated the steering arm previously
, and adapted the butterfly steering wheel to the quick release on the sector shaft.
A water filler was needed at the front of the engine. I had some pipe, and welded
    needed bungs on where needed.

Rich, I just discovered your post/build, I'm super impressed with your craftsmanship, design and attention to detail. It's thanks to people like you that help me refine my skills and become a better builder. Thank you for sharing, I appreciate it and am enjoying you build.

  7. This picture takes me WAY back. I watched my uncle restore a Chevy pickup like this when I was five. I thought he was crazy for all the parts he had laying all over his house. Now, I'm just like him. Go figure.

Thanks so much for the kind words guy's ! It is a labor of love, and learning new
skills with every build. This will be my last build as health problems are holding me back.
I have learned a lot on this site over the years and hope to pass on a little of that here.

Rear end back in place, and the bottom row of hangers is in place.
There are 3 fasteners holding this panel on. I Complete the center
fastener first, than the outer two. the slightest misalignment will cause
    a pucker in the panel. d31.JPG d32.JPG

Where two panels join, and roll under car is a real pain to get a good joint.
Having to bead roll one causes a lot of fussing around for a good fit.

I shaped a piece of 1/4' inch plate to use as a buck to form the corner, and pipe for another one.

Both sides done. The back will be cut straight to match cars of that era, many had no back panel.

It's hard to see in this pic, but the rear panel is flush with the side panels.
I welded a piece of tubing to the frame for future push bar. the removable pipe
stub bottoms against the frame for maximum strength. Yes it is very fussy getting
that hole in the rear panel dead on !

This was a great project, I really enjoyed it, would love to do a chute back car.
We didn't get every thing done we wanted to, he's moving has to relocate his shop.
My health will only let me work a few hours a day now, and that time I need to use to finish my Coupe. DSC00915.JPG DSC00917.JPG
