Tri-five rears are 60 inches axle flange to flange if that helps. A lot of tri-five four doors and wagons got parted out to build an early hot rod.
Good selection of ratios. The lowest ratios came in 6 cylinder 3 speed cars. Can't remember if Chevy offered an overdrive option that year, but overdrive cars were geared low generally.
May not really matter but the ‘55 and maybe the ‘56 use smaller axle bearings than the later ones. I have a ‘64 3.36 in my coupe.

Yes, 55s and 56s have smaller axle bearings than does the 57. The real plus, in my opinion, is that the 57 has a differential drain plug while the 55 and 56 do not.

The 66-77 Bronco 9 inch is a good rear at 58 inches wide and it's 5x5.5 bolt pattern, I have that rear in 3 different vehicles.
I thought it was a "one off".. Had the pumpkin up to 64 but something was different on the ends as I remember. I always looked to 56-7 when shopping.
