A pressure tank will work on a flathead as well. You are just pressurizing the oiling system.

X2 I prelube the cam and fill my can with a complete oil change . I also do this on engines that have set for a long time.

Women can be very difficult to start when cold, unpredictable RPM swings, and/or intermittent.

Sometimes they start on their own, never figured that out. Once they get good and warmed though, they get noisy and tend towards overheating and sometimes won't shut off.

Sounds like you have your hands full with that . Might want to get one of those battery assist jump starters.;)

Just did this with my fresh SBC. When my uncle volunteered his, I was embarrassed to admit I'd never heard of such a thing, but it worked great. Cam lube on the lobes and lifter faces and assembly lube everywhere else. A bottle of Howard's ZDDP and a quart of 15W-40 went in through the oil fill, and the rest went in through the pressure tank. There was 60 lbs of pressure in the system before I even hit the key.

I'm surprised no one has mention that pre-lubing washing off the cam lube, etc. Wonder if there's any truth to that?

FWIW, I pre-lube them all to, rotating the engine over until all the rockers have oil.

Impossible on a flathead and vw beetle. The only engines I have ever built.
