Recently I was fortunate to view a private collection accumulated over (50) years in Iowa. At the request of the family - I am not disclosing the exact location. If you know the family or the the Gentleman who collected these cars please respect the wishes of the family and do not post that information here on this thread or anywhere else on the Internet. I have been traveling the country since 2006 telling Stories From The Road. I was fortunate to spend half a day touring two buildings - I have several more to go thru when I return .... I took several videos that I posted to Facebook - most of the vehicles you see are for sale - contact information is in the videos. These hot rods date back to the 1940’s in some cases - they all have stories .... <><><><><><><><><><><><><> You can follow me on Facebook and Instagram I post information about stuff for sale I see all across the country along with interesting places I spot while driving ... I posted a Facebook album on November 22nd. Facebook no longer allows album links directly so you have to go thru my photos to November 22nd. The most historically significant car was this Ford that was originally chopped by Sam Barris in the late 1940’s or early 1950’s. It was a West Coast car that spent (60) years in a Hollywood back yard before moving to Iowa. I did a separate video on it with the history somewhat detailed. It is for sale. Jim
Indeed ... This is what every car guy or gal dreams of - walking into an unknown vault of hot rods that date back to the 1940’s. The family is selling the cars you see in the videos I took for what the collector paid for them. The owner disdained Flippers .... He kept just about every car he bought. If he sold one - it was at the price he paid for it. American Pickers came knocking twice or more during his lifetime - he turned them away. There is a short video featuring Rat Fink that addresses Flippers directly. Don’t bother calling unless you want a car for yourself. I bought a wooden log chainsaw carving that I gave to my welder Reg as a gift .... Jim
Just a heads up - when a digital image is uploaded, at least directly - there is embedded EXIF data therein. I don't know how to do it, but determining the exact location of those photos is super easy. There are ways around this, but it's something to beware of.
Thanks for the photos. The man you are speaking of passed away in February. His identity is no secret, as he has been posted/talked about here on the HAMB a number of times before.
You need to shut location off on the phone and software or the camera while you take the picture I believe.
The Russians are coming !!! Meanwhile, back at the HAMB ... thanks for the share. Cool way to meet car people is hauling their sh*t. Lucky guy. Lucky HAMB.
I'm sure quite a few of us recognize the cars and know the family. He had a lot of cool stuff over the years.
[ To walk amongst some of the private collections - to be allowed to photograph & video amazing vehicles and associated ephemera - is an honor. Some days it is like visiting a museum. Jim
