I got a 1960 F100 with a stock white hood color and have a hell of a time on some days driving with glare or reflection off the hood into my eyes.

Are other colors any better or worse???

I was wondering what others experience with similar years from say 1957 to 1960.
It does not have to be the height of summer to be a problem.

I've taken to not washing the hood in the hope that this may help.
I am sure it has a little when compared to a polished hood but it is still a problem to me...

    Your thoughts???

Could be like out driving in the snow where all the white blinds you? notice your dash, wheel and inside posts are all white, could try sunglasses or paint it red like the rest of the truck? May be something with your eyes, have you saw a eye doctor lately?:)

Sunglasses most of the time as a rule.
I learned years ago with a long drive thru AZ to CA on the I10 it was killer on the eyes.
    My colors are OEM Ford...

  5. Might try one of those vinyl wraps in a darker color to see if it helps, then consider a darker colored paint if it does.

    Tint your windshield. Always removable.

My 66 F250 did the same. a good pair of sunglasses really help. Ray Bans are traditional.

It only happens with white 66 F100's. No other vehicle built has glare coming off the hood.

It is a relatively flat surface and that is always an issue for reflection. Doesn't help that the windshield is darn near vertical, either. I don't recall exactly what car I had that the chrome wiper arms would blind me, so I shot some dull coat on the side facing the windshield. Can't do that with a hood, unfortunately

Interesting-I drove a 60 with a white hood for 150K miles from near new til the late 80's. Don't recall it being an issue but that was long ago and I wore shades too.

I would try lowering it first. Get it further away from the sun :)

I drove a shiny silver Mack for a lot of years, flat hood, flat windshield. Get some good polarized sunglasses.

The answer is to louver the hood.
