My Dad and one of his cars in 1933.
An Uncle once told me a story how my Dad had been working on the engine of this car in the basement and got it back in the car and running on a Saturday afternoon. He gave his younger Brother (my Uncle) the keys and a couple bucks so he could use the car to take a young lady out for a Saturday night date.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this poster. I did 90% of those actions and have all my fingers, toes, arms, legs, etc...

It's an ad for a "Shopsmith". They advertised it could do it all and that's a photo to prove it.

I got my license in Anaheim 1963. I remember buying gas at Powerine Stations for around $0.19.
Chevron Custom Supreme (100+ octane) was the most expensive, as I recall, at around $0.30
Gas was so cheap and being mostly broke teenagers we would collect enough pop bottles for their $0.03 deposit value to buy a gallon of gas.
That's the way I remember it.

You were a bit more strapped for cash than I was in those days. All of our cars were on Richfield, Standard/Chevron, and Flying A "ethyl" gas at around $0.30 as you say :)

We used to take up a collection from the other guys that would ride in my car to school LOL. OK who can spare a quarter from their lunch money or it's the bus to school. Maybe a dime or two. Tried to get to $1.00 because the grumpy old guy hated pumping less than an even dollar. A dollars worth would take us the 1/2 hour ride to school and back.

Looks like the hooligan in the black shirt is letting the air out of the rear tire.
