I recently bought a 55 Chevy 6400 to haul firewood. It's got a 235 c.i. six which is very long in the tooth i.e. smokes like a chimney. I'm thinking about swapping motors. I have a 4.3 v6 and a mid 70's 350 c.i. and am wondering which would be the easier swap. Any info would be appreciated.
Some of the other guys will probably chime in, but from what I understand a V8 swap will involve moving the steering box. A later model Chevy six, 230, 250, 292 would be an easier fit. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Moving the steering box doesn't sound like much fun. I guess I'll rebuild the 235c.i. and keep my eye open for a more powerful 6 cylinder. Thanks for the response.
