    Steve at the start line of the International Six Day Trial dressed in either a Barbour suit or Belstaff waxed cotton waterproof duds. .
    Judging by how clean he and the Triumph are I would say it was the start of day one.
    Five more days to follow if rider and machine survive. Bikes impounded over night with only one hour allowed for maintenance by rider only before starting each morning.
    The I.S.D.T. contained six days of known and unknown ( points lost for arriving late or early ) check points, sound checks, speed tests, equipment tests all on street legal motorcycles.
    Hundreds of miles each day on both smooth and difficult terrain.
    Teams representing countries, manufacturers and priveteers struggled to earn gold , silver or bronze medals.
    A true test of man and machine.

  30. Since it is advertising Red Crown Gasoline, it is probably an "eye catching device" kinda like crepe to flap around when wheels are turning. My best guess, lol.
