Not a midget. Way too small. Maybe a quarter midget.

  7. That's what I was thinking too.

  8. Hard to imagine a 1/4 midget racer only had 2hp...
But seems too well built to be a toy.
    Really cool, none the less...

Pure nostalgia...that's what that is. I think they were called micro midgets as well but I could be wrong.

Looks like another money pit waiting to suck up your hot rod fund money.

My youngest grandson would get a kick out of that.... Gene

Quarter midget, that would be fun to own! That wouldn't be the motor that was in it when it was raced.

    Here's one in race condition

Growing up in Tulsa, 1/4 midget racing was a big deal. It still is, as the Tulsa Quarter Midget Association is still going strong. The father of one of my best friends in high school was big into it, and their family vacations were centered around a 1/4 midget race somewhere.

That is a 1/4 Midget with a continental or DECO (Detroit Engine Company) who bought continental. Those were WWll engines used for generators and such. Look like a battery in back which would be a Modified class and the tires look like it spent time on dirt or clay track. Any suspension? I think a lot of 50’s and early 60’s were ridged rear and the front axle pivoted on the center of the axle. Cool find. Yea, I’m old and raced them as a kid, and my Son raced them in the 80’s

  27. It is a 1/4 midget. Looks like someone bought a body, and built the rest in his garage. The stock class ran the 2 1/2 horse Continental engine, 7.25 cubic inches. There were various classes based on engine modifications. My dad and a friend built a small dyno to check out various cams, porting, carbs, and exhaust pipe length. The last engine I ran, in AA/Open Fuel class, developed almost 10 hp on methanol.
