  2. the car was beautiful, I wish I could have gotten closer.

  3. I was fortunate to have met his brother or brother in law, at the show. he allowed me behind the ropes to get a closer look as he explained how it was re-created.
I am so glad they made the effort to bring it over. rumors has it, that it is for sale?

  4. thanks. I promised my wife a trip back at some point, and let me know if you make a trip out here.

Thanks for sharing, some of the best pics Ive saw in a while, I am curious what color this olds is, I kind of browse around for a off white I like, for a future project I have in mind. I saw one on pontiac G6 I think I like but havent looked into the code yet.

  6. I liked the color also. I do not know what the exact color is, but seeing it in person, I would describe it as white that had a grey/green hue. not yellow, not red, not blue. IMG_8287.JPG IMG_8288.JPG IMG_8290.JPG

It was actually done like 8 months ago, and I think already got some damage from a shipping accident and part of it had to be redone. The turn-around time on the restoration was pretty amazing, and I think it went from one shop to another during the restoration as well.

  9. sound like a plan. should we take @MalloMike and L along too?

I have no idea, but I hope that it comes back to NZ so we can all see it.
When I saw it, it was still under construction, - April 2018

Thanks for the pictures. Its a little bit bittersweet to see them. This year was the first time since I started going in 1992 that I missed it. Health problems prevented me from going. I hope to all well for next year!

It's nice to see that the 'Hemi Under Glass' has been un-Lenoed.

I had always read of the lighted tires on the golden Sahara but thought I’d never get the chance to see them. They look as cool as I had imagined them. I also love the uncertain T. That car just screams the 60’s for me. The venue looks super crowded though.

  21. it WAS crowded, but it was full of "car guys" who all seemed to "yield" if you were trying to take a photo. the T and the golden Sahara were roped off understandably, but they were the few vehicles, that were.

Last time I was there so crowded most were taking photos using a selfie stick to get unobstructed views of the cars inside the exhibit building.

Guys....this Olds was the subject of a feature article in a recent issue of either Hot Rod or Street Rodder magazine........I am sure the paint was discussed in the article. I'll try to find the specific issue and post it here. May take a day or two.....

Very nice car.........was the owner's Grandmother or Aunt who bought the Olds new and kept it until relatively recently. It got a MAJOR makeover, not HAMB friendly underneath, but as you can see, mostly stock appearing on the outside.

edit: @lowbudget.....and..... @tb33anda3rd Found it. January 2020 Street Rodder.
