I just got a message from a buddy of mine with a picture of a mod '40's truck asking me if it was rare. I said it was probably a Canadian truck and pretty rare here in the good ole U.S. of .A but just like some Canadian Ford trucks I've seen with Mercury tailgates. So how about it guys, Am I right or am i right?
Plymouth made pick ups in the U.S. between '37 and '41 , I believe the most were built in '37 and the fewest were in '41. Here's my '38 Plymouth .
Here is the Canadian version. It is a Fargo. Mostly the same trim except they use a globe instead of the clipper ship
As far as I know, they never sold Plymouth trucks in Canada, just as they did not sell Fargo, or Desoto trucks in the US. Canadian Fargo's were built at least up until the major body change in 1972. The early pickups used the same grill as the US Plymouth trucks, but came with the Canadian "long" Chrysler pattern flathead 6. Bigger Fargo trucks had different grills & trim than the Dodges, and usually had a few V shaped chevrons on them somewhere. Pickups from the 30's & 40's are scarce in my area, but seem to be quite a few bigger ones sold as grain trucks.
In the mid seventies, Plymouth rebadged a Mitsubishi pick up. I had one and installed Bruce Meyer’s convertible kit....great cruiser.
A '41 should have stainless horizontal trim on the lower grilles. Sent from my SM-T350 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
