Let me start by saying That I like a stock 55 sedan style best and in general dont care for chopped tri fives but I must admit, I think this "idea" looks kinda Cool, Its on the auction site but rough.
It may have been a 4 door at one time??? Im not buying it but thought it to be a pretty neat conversation piece......
    What are your thoughts?

  3. Well, I can't say anything good about it so.....

  4. Looks pretty scary to me. I almost guarantee it was once 2 to 3 separate cars before it was resurrected.

I wouldn't build one that way, but I wouldn't turn it down if the price was right either. If you like it, go for it. It kinda looks like it may have a rear clip from a 4 door.

Saw that, thought it looked like it started out as a 4 door sedan. Does't really matter though, it's still an absolute miscarriage/abortion, and a terrible thing to happen to any Tri-Five Chevrolet. Not only NO, but H*LL NO!!! JMO.

The roof is intriguing to me, I kinda like it. That being said, if I had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but time and an assload of money on my hands I'd be inclined to make it right. As it stands right now, not so much...
WTF did it start out as is the REAL question?

Looks like the PERFECT gutted out, bare-bones '55 gasser project. At least no one would accuse you of cutting up a nice '55;)

200S wheels on a 55 Chevy is far out. Other than that...

That roof is from a 49 to 52 Fleetline, not a 53-54 hardtop. If I was 25 years younger I would build it because I think the basic concept is cool. Larry

    edit.
Did not see the picture of the rear window at first. That reminds me of the center glass of my 51 hardtop or possibly a 57 olds. a lot of somewhat misguided style going on, but still not the worst I have ever seen. As the old saying goes "Anyone can restore an old car, but a real car guy cuts them up". It is a rusty old sedan, not a mint original hardtop so no harm done.

  26. The Iowa rust and Monte frame are a big plus for me. Makes for an easy 4" channel, and with the roof already chopped, it's icing on the cake. Full house BBC, prepped powerglide, fenderwell headers, spooled 9" with 5:38's, tilt front end, full cage, Hoosier dirt tires at the corners and we're going dirt tracking. I know plenty of cheater mods for the Monte frame to make it handle. Windows? We don't need no stinkin' windows. That's what screen, face masks and helmets are for.
