Technical what year?

    Ok flathead guru's I need help! I have a 29 ford model A with a 49-53 flathead, is there anyway to tell exact year other then #'s stamped on block? the only # I can see is something that looks like a 2....

    The ones I've had, no. Not that many, but I've found no useful markings. It hardly matters except for one thing: the last ones, many didn't have valve seat inserts.

  8. It doesn't really matter because they're basically unchanged throughout the last years, but someone already mentioned Van Pelts and you figured it out. Mine had a factory relief for the valve to cylinder area and valve seat inserts. Some do not have that. All of the parts will interchange.

    Have any of you repaired a spark plug threads while head on the engine?

    Yes I have , not sure it’s the correct type of repair . But when your bike blows a plug , what else are you goin to do ? I greased up the drill bit and tap and cleaned with carb spray , lock tight on the insert . Screw the plug in and light the brute and go man go .
