Does anyone still have the first car they bought. I sold mine long ago and regret it every day! If you have any pictures that would be nice to see them.

  8. My first car, was a 39 Ford Std coupe. I very much regret selling it, and don't have a single picture of that pretty little car. I have owned my avatar 55 Cameo for 50 years, if that helps.

Nope, and I wouldn't want it back. 67 Mustang, I6 C4, worn out pos. Now my second car I would love back, 67 Mustang, 289 C4, AC, PB and PS, deluxe interior.

Not me. The first car I bought was a pile of crap. I was so happy to get rid of it. As soon as I made that last payment, it was gone forever!

That 1st car started a trend for me. Most cars have been gone in 3-7 years of my ownership, a few didn't make it more then a few months! My 48 Plymouth coupe is among my longest held rides at 7 years. I did have a couple pickups that made it to 12 years each. Gene

I beat my first car so bad I wouldn't want it back to be honest. Poor thing had to stand up to a 16 year old gear head who just got his license and thought a 65 mustang 289 4 speed was the fastest thing around! RIP!

Still have the truck I bought when I was 13, it was my daily on and off over the years, but the old 6 is so wore out it just gets used for hauling junk occasionally now. Someday it will get a better engine and a long overdue paintjob, but for now I'll continue being the guy that tells everyone "its not for sale I'm gonna fix it up one day"

6 24 17 (Medium).jpg I bought this in 1968 and sold it in 71. Was able to buy it back out of the junk yard in 1980 and made it run for your second car. It is now restored and leads a very leisure life.

My first car was a 56 Chevy wagon, but this one I’ve been playing with since I could make car noises, I’m 63 D77BFAC5-546A-4F08-B2F7-F3B5B174B8DC.jpeg

When I first got my license I had an Uncle who owned a collision shop and told me about a red 1964 SS Impala that they put a mechanics lien on for a quarter panel repair. The owner never paid so I got it for the $450 they owed my Uncle. I dated the girl across the street who later became my Wife in that car. To feed my car wheeling a dealing addiction I sold it (for a nice profit) to a friend in High School. I later asked him if I could get a picture of the car since I had never taken one. He told me the car had been stolen and stripped of the Cragar SS wheels, trim and other parts. He said maybe the Sheriff has pictures of it on blocks in the city alley it was found in. Years later at a car event I spotted a 64 that looked exactly like my first car with the exception of the headlight shields so I took a picture to remind me of my first legally licensed ride.

I still have my first car, a '40 Ford tudor, which I've had for 37 years. Also my second car, a '67 Chevelle, which I've had for 36 years.

    Hello,
My first real “registered in my name” car was the 1958 Chevy Impala that I bought from my brother. He was getting out of drag racing and was starting back up in the world of surfing, as well as a foray into motorcycle racing out in the desert. He wanted a van and needed to sell the Impala.
    upload_2020-2-10_4-51-1.png
I had spent quite a number of hours in the Impala and also underneath the Impala during the heydays of Lions Dragstrip racing from 57-60. So, it was a natural for me to buy the car and keep the tradition alive with more racing at Lions and cruising around Bixby Knolls.

While my brother owned the Impala, he had me doing most of the maintenance work. He knew I needed transportation for my early teenage years and that was a way to get it done. Slave labor from a teenager in response to a request to be taken to a basketball game or a friend’s house. So, needless to say, I knew that Impala quite well with all of the spark plug changes, the clutch adjustments, the replacing of the Positraction third member weekly and washing/waxing the car all of the time.

For my brother, it was a dream come true with his own concierge services (new term…slave labor back then) for his Impala. When he was going out on a Friday night, I had to get the car clean and shiny on Thursday after school. After a day at the drags, I had to still clean the car for Monday’s high school teenage car shows in the parking area leading into the campus. So, my involvement was a three year episode until the car was registered to my name. (legal owner, my mom)

I have to thank my brother, despite him taking advantage of me, prior to my getting a driver’s license. What he asked me to do was what I got used to doing and when the Impala was mine, it came in handy. I had already completed the task(s). The memories of the maintenance work, set me on the right track for daily and weekly maintenance of my own 1958 Impala. To me, it was show quality, although it was not a show car, but a very fast, good looking first car for this teenager.

upload_2020-2-10_4-52-50.png A cub reporter wrote this article. He was not a good listener, but did take notes. His notes were not very good. Also, I had to show him how to take good photographs and at what angle highlighted the Impala. (a B&M Stick Hydro and magnesium wheels? Pontiac mufflers? What planet was he living on, during this teenage time period? )

Still have it. Bought it when I was 12, back in 1986. Fixed it up (390 / C6), drove it through high school, then tore it down the day after graduation to "fix it up right". Hoping to get on it as a retirement project! hehehe
