    Working on a boot 425.JPG
Installed clutch, painted tranny to get the drivetrain together 426.JPG 427.JPG 428.JPG 429.JPG

Did a lot of wiring and assemble as much together as I could. Tore it all apart blasting, painting and baking everything as I went. My plan is to put it all together one last time after the frame and body are painted.
Test fit the rear belt mldg. after straightening it
    430.JPG 431.JPG

Decided to finally chop it. A mere 2"

Just to make things interesting , this summer I bought a Juki industrial sewing machine. Been doing a few small projects for practice.

Glad to see you back. Basically, we are doing similar cars but yours is done well. Looking forward to see you post your solution to the trunk lid.

Had a knee replaced in fall and all went well. Nothing holding me back now except my other knee. It should go for another year or two. Growing old isn't going quite as planned, but I'm not a quitter.
I had some stainless screening from work that I made into a grill. Am pleased with the result.
    451.JPG 452.JPG 453.JPG
Played around with some panel making and upholstery and this is my plan for the interior.
    454.JPG 455.JPG 456.JPG 459.JPG
Built a shelving unit for storage behind the seat.
    462.JPG 463.JPG 464.JPG
Made a bear claw latch for the trunk lid.
    465.JPG 466.JPG
Purchased 2 pair of valve covers from a hamber for a good price. Love this style. Couldn't help but try a little polishing.
    467.JPG 468.JPG 469.JPG
Decided it was time to tear this thing apart. Lifted the body off and hung the frame on the rotisserie. for final welding, grinding and painting.
    470.JPG 471.JPG 472.JPG 473.JPG 474.JPG 475.JPG 476.JPG 477.JPG 478.JPG 479.JPG 480.JPG 481.JPG 482.JPG 483.JPG 484.JPG
I am pumped to get this car done. It has been way too long. The end is in sight.

  12. Outstanding build. Your coverage is great too, a step by step how to for the home builder. Certainly appreciate you posting it all and can't say enough about your fabrication skills. Well done.

Thank you all for the compliments. I think the trick is to try anything. You learn from your mistakes. Find out why it didn't work and try again until it does.
Goldmountain, Looking good. I'm not quite there yet. I'm trying to set up the other room to make the mess in, although the whole place is a mess.

Well I found some ambition and I'm going to try and hold on to it. My plan is to drive it this coming year.
Getting parts ready to put it back together. 485.JPG
Painted the rims a little lighter red to match the engine. Yes red rims. 486.JPG
Made a cart and tilt to get the bottom welded up before installing it on the rotissery. 487.JPG 488.JPG 489.JPG 490.JPG 491.JPG
    Made a makeshift paint room for now. 492.JPG 493.JPG 494.JPG 495.JPG
Harley fenders I ordered and can't return. They looked much better in the catalog. Too bulky for my likes. I'll try cutting them down and see how they look. 496.JPG 497.JPG
    Getting the frame done. 498.JPG 499.JPG 500.JPG
    Midnight blue. 501.JPG 502.JPG
    Now the body on the rotissery. 503.JPG 504.JPG 506.JPG 507.JPG 508.JPG

Getting a little crowded in here. 509.JPG
    Paint more pieces. 510.JPG 511.JPG 512.JPG 513.JPG 514.JPG
    Then assembly. 515.JPG 516.JPG 517.JPG 518.JPG 519.JPG 520.JPG 521.JPG 522.JPG 523.JPG 524.JPG 525.JPG 526.JPG 527.JPG
Using up a lot of pieces and gaining some extra room. Waiting for brake lines and that will just about finish it.
I'm pleased. Just the body left.

That is one smooth frame. These long Canadian winters are at least good for something.

I finished the brakes 532a.JPG 532b.JPG 532c.JPG 532d.JPG Also finished the fenders 533.JPG 535.JPG 534.JPG 535a.JPG 535b.JPG I forgot how time consuming and physically demanding all the filling, priming and block sanding is. Once I got into it I realized it is not as straight as I thought it was. 536.JPG 537.JPG 538.JPG 540.JPG 541.JPG 542.JPG 543.JPG 544.JPG 545.JPG 546.JPG 547.JPG 548.JPG 549.JPG 550.JPG 551.JPG 552.JPG 553.JPG 554.JPG 555.JPG 556.JPG Was having trouble with the trunk lid. could not get the sheet metal to conform to the trunk frame. Screwed up two pieces of 18 gage sheet metal. A buddy had a sheet of 20 gage. Quite a difference. A lot more flexible. Had no problem making it fit.

558.JPG 559.JPG 560.JPG 561.JPG 562.JPG Rather than buying a dozen more clamps, I made a few bucks which worked really well. It is finally done as it was the last big piece on the body. Hope to have the car painted next month. Then I can get my garage back to normal. The mess will be over and the fun of putting it back together starts.

Oh my. You have done top hat stuff in your build. What you have done and are doing should be on a reality car build series.
    Amazing work.

Well another installment. I love a white firewall. 563.JPG 564.JPG
Installed all the kilmat, except the floor. I don't think I could have done it without the rotisserie. 566.JPG 567.JPG 567a.JPG
All prep work done. After 6 months the paint room is gone. Garage back to normal. It is still a mess, but it is a clean mess. 568.JPG 569.JPG

    Waiting for paint. 571.JPG 572.JPG 573.JPG 574.JPG 575.JPG 576.JPG 577.JPG
I made a license plate frame. These old plates are a different size than the new ones. 578.JPG 579.JPG 580.JPG 581.JPG 582.JPG 583.JPG

    584.JPG
I restored a couple plates. Not sure about the gold frame. Any ideas? I tried white and silver and I didn't like either one. 585.JPG 586.JPG
I have two plates. I think I like the numbers on the lower one better. 587.JPG
I painted the bottom one first, but the clear I used over the white made the numbers yellow. The plate on the car I just used a few more coats of white on the numbers and no clear and it left the numbers white which I prefer. If I use the bottom one I will be doing it over and I might be too lazy.

    Thank you
The yellowed numbers look good in the gold frame. The firewall and white walls are a bright white. don't know if it matters.

Things are happening here. Looks good in paint. I'm glad we picked this color 587a.JPG 588.JPG
I was concerned about my bodywork, but I'm happy with it. 589.JPG 590.JPG 591.JPG 592.JPG
    Putting it on the frame 593.JPG 594.JPG 595.JPG 596.JPG
    Looking better all the time. Adding some pieces. 597.JPG 598.JPG 599.JPG 600.JPG 601.JPG 602.JPG 603.JPG 604.JPG 605.JPG
Had a lot of trouble with the doors. Grinding in the doors for clearance and also on the latches. Not perfect, but will do. Adding more pieces. 606.JPG 607.JPG 608.JPG 609.JPG 610.JPG
Can't wait to see it outside. Hopefully the wiring nightmare will be over soon and I can start it.
