Technical 1948 Plymouth frame interchange question??

    Question for the HAMB on interchange for a 1948 Plymouth frame. What other years, if any, share the same frame (coupe with back seat)? Thank you for any help!

    46-48 Plymouth & Dodge should be the same, think '42 is as well but not 100% on that.

    All 1946 to early 1st series 1949 plymouth frames interchange except the woody wagon., all have the same wheelbase.....4 dr sedan, 2 dr sedan, business coupe, club coupe all the same. The vert is the same but has a X member added for strength.
    Nothing Dodge will fit wheelbase too long.
    Late 49 second series will not fit frames are to narrow, same with the 50.

    Canadian Dodge will work. Basically a Plymouth with a different grille.

    Since I own one of these, I remember years ago talking to another p15 owner whose car rested on a 1959 Chev frame. Something I would not recommend.

    I agree it is a plymouth with dodge badging and it will fit......but since they are rarer than a p-15 why pay extra for the same thing.

Yep..........1st series 1949 Plymouth P18 is identical to 1946-1948 P15 Plymouths......easy way to visually check whether 1st or 2nd Series 1949 Plymouth is to look at the front or rear bumpers........if its a 1st series the bumpers are smooth in profile, like 46-48 bumpers as they are the same bumpers.......if the bumpers have 3 "bumps or ridges " along their length in profile then its a 1949 2nd series car and really nothing will interchange between the 1949 2nd series and 1st series 1949 or 1946-1948 Plymouths...........make sense?........lol.........andyd

    The early '49s are actually '48s because they didn't get set up for the revised '49 model in time.

    a guy tried putting one on an S-10 frame. Gave up on that, too many problems.

    Damn S-10 frames are a bane for decent cars. Yeah they were a quick and easy way to get V8 and disc brakes but geez they are TRUCK frames and they ride like shit. I even saw one shoved and welded into a Falcon so it could have a V8..... freaking abomination.

    ^^^^^Has some back east salty road crud, especially the body mounts on the frame. A neighbor has many 49 to early 50's mopars that came from the 'Car Garden'. The 'Car Garden' owner seemed to favor mopars. 'Car Garden' was west of Bakersfield Calif, near New Cuyama. Owner had hundreds of cars he was putting on graded roads on 80 acres in the foot hills. He was going to charge a fee for tourists to drive through his garden and see the old cars. Unfortunately he (Tom Merkel) died before his dream was completed.
    The 48 with frame crud has an interesting history. It was originally purchased by the Egyptian govt. In the 80's it ended up in Michigan and was driven some on the salted winter roads. There are 2 stickers on the dash that say 'AAA of Egypt'.

    As far as that p15 on the '59 Chev frame goes, It worked because those Chevys have that X shaped frame which hugs the driveshaft and it is a matter of making outriggers to the body mounting points. Also, the wheelbase is 2" longer. If you have access to 80 acres of old cars it might be worth looking into.
