Hot Rods Is the 1938 ford standard really the ugliest fat fender car?

The 1938 recession hurt sales, as did Ford's continuing of the 1937 cars, including most body panels. 1938 DeLuxe models were differentiated with a heart-shaped grille, though standard models retained the 1937 look. The fading Slantback sedan design was cancelled for good. Only a V8 was offered, either a 60 hp V8 or an 85 hp V8.[4] A new dash was used, with recessed controls for safety.
Not sure how true it is but my car is titled a 1938 but obviously has a 37 front end and 38 rear fenders.

Paul is right and fat fenders refers to 41-48, and nothing earlier because 'fat fender'is an era.

 

Not Ugly To Me But Then Again I Don't Throw Rocks At Fords...

 

I know this is an old thread, but I saw a few people say the late 40s Mopar is ugly. I say the P15 business coupe has a sexier roof line (and therefore profile) than any of the fat-fendered Fords.

 

Yup, but the roof isn't the ugly part of those Mopars...it's the rest of it that's ugly.

To me Fat Fender Mopars hands down out Fugly 38 Fords.

 

38 Standard or De Luxe i both like them a lot.
(Standard a tiny bit more good looking).

 

I had 38 Standard got it when I was 19 kept it for 10 years always thought the front was better looking than the deluxe front.

 

I would take a 37 or 38 standard coupe anytime given the chance.

 

The 38 standard to me is a bucket list car and far nicer than the deluxe although i love them as well. Got to get me one of them , I'm always on the lookout
