Got this from a friend, thought I'd share. All you Cali guys should like this. https://1funny.com/driving-los-angeles-in-the-1950s-60s/ Roger
That sure brought back good times memories. Seems like a million years ago. Did you happen to notice the red 1936 Ford convert (I think) at 2:43 Thanks for posting.. Just think, most of those cars are gone.
Great video. The gas prices, Winchell's Donut House, the cars...Good memories growing up in Southern California and I wouldn't have traded it for anything.
Damn, you could actually drive above crawl speeds back then! Seriously, it's amazing how much more traffic there is today, on the same sized highways. I was watching some old Dragnet shows from 53-54 today, it was amazing how little traffic there was. A beautiful place, sadly over populated today. Bet it was a paradise back in the 50's and early 60's......
Wow is that cool!, I was going thru boot in San Diego in 61. I was in awe of the cars out there compared to back home. Thanks for the video! It was the best time to grow up! Rich
Highways taken over by shit boxes and people that can't drive, the up side is there is still oldies stations that we can still hear the music and dream.
Song was by Harry Nillson , hit from " midnight cowboy 1969" , so the time line is a little off ..IMO
Thanks for posting. lack of older cars, most cars look to be only a few years old( going by to date on the video).
You'd have to go out at 3am to find traffic that light now. But then you might get shot. Another good one:
I've lived there 3 times, each time vowing to never return because of the overcrowding and crazy traffic. Well, except for the 1st time when my parents left because of the 1954 earthquake in Eureka. Freaked my mom out big time! I remember the cars tho. My parents had a 40 Lasalle sedan, landlord had a 50 ford sedan, neighbors had a shiny yellow 53 Merc rag-top and my mom's friend had a brand new 54 cad. Almost sent up through the windshield the first time she hit the power brakes! My babysitter's boy friend had a bright red 47-48 Olds convertible and he terrorised the neighborhood with it...with me in it at 6 years old. Loved it.
