I'm trying to uncover the history of a channeled 32 Roadster with full fenders.

The story goes that Jim Wood of California first laid eyes on the roadster in 1961 when he was about 14 years old and later acquired the car in about 1968. He kept the car for about 10 years before selling it to classic car dealer, Gary A. Bisel of Costa Mesa California in 1978. Gary kept the car for about 5 years before selling it in 1983.

The car is equipped with a 283 topped with dual 4's, & auto.

The car features a fully chromed front end including dropped axle, wishbone & backing plates

The car was updated around 1990 to its current configuration.

I would like to discover more about the car's history and period photos of the car as first built.

Does anyone have more information on the car or period photos?

Fantastic! That thing is very cool. Not often you see channeled, full fendered '32s

Congrats! Smart decision to work with Jim Lirones. He’s a great guy who knows his stuff...

What do you plan to do with the car?

I sure like it, because I like channeled cars.

I need to add to my above reply. Looking over those pix, there’s many attributes that I see in that car that warrant “no change” I really dig the fact that wishbone is intact, it has a canister type oil filter, a stock front leaf spring and loads of chrome.
Don’t know what ya had to give for it or when, but whatever it was/is a great great deal for a nice & unique channeled full fendered roadster.

Thanks guys for all the positive comments.

I hope to uncover the car's history to return and make the car period correct.
The car features many period mods, including channel, sectioned & filled grille shell, bobbed rear fenders, frenched door hinges, shaved handles, roll pan, shortened frame horns front & rear etc.

The car is believed to have been black with a white top until the change to the present color scheme in about 1990.

I hope someone can shed some light on the car's history.

Do you know anything about ownership prior to Jim Wood?

This sure sounds like the '32 a friend and club member used to own. His name is Jim Wood, but lived here in No. Indiana at that time. I'll try to contact him.

CAN ANYONE HELP WITH THIS CAR'S MAGAZINE HISTORY ??'

A former owner that i have been in contact with provided the following information:

" ..I BOUGHT IT FROM A GUY WHO BUILT IT IN "CANTON , OHIO" AND I SAW IT ON THE COVER OF "HOT ROD MAGAZINE" IN LIKE 1959 OR 60..

I'm trying to track down the magazine - it may have been HOT ROD or other magazine - circa 1959 or 1960

Can anyone recall a channeled & fully fendered 32 Roadster on the cover of a late 1950s - early 1960s magazine from Canton, Ohio running a Corvette 283

I believe the car was black with a white top.

I can’t help with the history, but what a fantastic car! I’ll do some looking in some of the stuff I have when I get a chance, but I don’t have an extensive library like many guys do. If you haven’t already have a look at the Peterson Archives. Alchemy turned me on to this when I was doing some research in the past.

I looked at the covers of Hot Rod 59 and 60. there was only one fendered 32 roadster but it was not channeled

No Hot Rod cover shot of it in ‘57, ‘58, ‘61 , ‘62 or’63, unless it’s January of ‘62 (missing that issue).

Thank you guys for your efforts.

It may have been one of the less popular magazines.

I hoping the that Canton Ohio origin may trigger some memories
