Wasn't the 425 an Olds engine? Or, am I remembering something else?

425 or 429? Bendtsens makes an adapter for the 429. Or consider a 2004R trans which has both the Chevrolet and BOP patterns.

Probably, by using one of the BOP to Chevy adapter plates.

2004R would be my choice. Ratio's better then 700R4.

  6. 700 Chevy pattern with an adapter..200 4 R dual pattern (BOP) ..bolt on.

  7. as they said it won't bolt direct but will with a BOP to Chev adapter which is not particularly expensive.

On a budget the 700 is probably the way to go, with care it will hold up to the Cad torque better, the 200 would have to be purpose built to go behind it. Also if you did blow it up another one will be easier to find, I can find trucks with them much easier than cars with the 200 these days.

As they downsized cars in the late 1970s they downsized engines, the Cad 472 became a 425, then I think a 366 or so before they discontinued it. I've always wanted to put together a TBI on a 472 because I think it can be done cheap with all bolt on parts, but that's a discussion for some other board.
