It's great that some of the "Oldies but Goodies" still remain as "Oldies but Goodies" so many years later.
Very nice piece of history. When I was in 7th grade, all I wanted was a 32 Ford coupe, fenderless, no chop, midnight blue with a 427 Ford and two fours with a top loader four speed. At 12 years old, I figured that was all I would ever need. Ah, to be young again! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
One thing that really stands out to me on this car, is that this clearly was not a low-budget build, but it has non-matching front and rear wheels, clearly done for the look and not due to money restraints. There was a thread on mis-matched front and rear wheels on the HAMB years ago and a lot of people said it was done due to budgets, but I think this is a prime example of that not being the case. I always figured it was a race-inspired look, since racers often had a second set of rear wheels with slicks to take to the track. I'm also curious to know if it was just shown without air cleaners or if it didn't run any? A couple of guys I used to work with at a body shop always ran cars without air cleaners, saying they were restrictive. I thought that was odd, and risky. This car is great. I love the upholstery work inside and out, and the full fendered, uncut bodywork. This car would still be a standout at a show, today.
Nick - Yes ... in 1964, @Steve Scott was a freelance photographer for a few automotive magazines ... including Argus Publishers' POPULAR HOT RODDING magazine. It wasn't until 1965 that he starting working for Petersen Publishing as an "Associate Editor" at CAR CRAFT magazine.
Yeah that's the Ticket...certainly a noteworthy Hotrod...wouldn't change a single thing except the driver with me......Someone said we need to see more of these...I'd Say absolutely...right down to the Bia Plys... Thanks for Sharing @J.Ukrop...
Definitely has a "go fast" look! Level stance, easy to uncap headers (not subtle, being painted white) and rear slicks, Wanna Race? Any one else wish that they had this stashed in the go-rage??
