I got a killer deal on a new Edelbrock air gap and 1405 for my 39 coupe , purchased the electric choke kit and a phenolic spacer, installed it on the 302 did the adjustments, and down the road you go.

I have one on my 289 in my 56 ford. I put it on and re-jetted / changed rods to get it tuned properly to my engine... that was 6 years ago and about 50,000 miles.... I have not touched it since!!!!!!

    Very reliable carbs!!

15 years ago I did the same to a larger edelbrock....I cant remember the cfm.. I think 750 or 850 on the stoker Windsor in my black 52 f1.... that was 15 years ago.....runs great and I never had to touch it. In 15 YEARS!!!

I'll tell you what looks out of place on a Ford engine..........the Rochester Quadrajet!
I know, I know, they put them on some 429's, still just looks wrong.

I put a 1406 on the 455 Olds in my 48 Olds convertible. I had the q-jet on it originally and I like the Edelebrock carb much better than the q-jet

The only thing better than a Edelbrock is a AFB I always thought the quality was a little better on the Carter.

I put a 1405 that someone gave me on a car just so I could sell it and get it out of my back yard.... I wasn't about to part with any of my Holley carbs... ;):D

I have a 1406 in my 33, but there's no choke, haha! I guess someone removed it.

  13. So, you took a 750 or 800 carb of a 455, and replaced it with a 600? What did you do for a manifold?

Assuming you managed to find a new AFB.
People buy used carbs all the time and bitch about not being able to make them work but a carbs' reputation is usually preceded by the ten idiots that had their fingers in them.

Personally I’ll never use another. Tried 3 new and always bled down overnight which causes issues, have heat passage blocked, spacer etc. Went with Holley and will never look back. Everything from performance to overall personality was hands down better. But I get it if it worked for you.
