Those pics are from ebay. I had that on my watch list. Thought it was cool looking. It was a 55 with a 56-57 rear clip grafted on per the info on the auction... I can't remember what it sold for... getting old sucks LOL

Not sure if it’s history, just wish I could be in the right place and time to find something like that hanging around. With the exception of freshening it up mechanically to drive I wouldn’t change a thing.

One of our brothers on the Vietnam Memorial Wall. An apt time to post this info. A lot of us were/are hot rodders and racers some are on the wall like Charlie. Many like myself came back broken, many still are. Remember those who served our country not only on Monday but all the time.

    Pat,
Thanx for the reminder. Had several friends go down in Nam. I didn't know Charlie Snyder, but I see we share the same birth date. I'll be sure to remember him from now on.

Hey Junk nice group of pictures, you certainly captured the theme of this thread. How about a little intro and where the picture where taken. Is the bluish 62 yours?

Looks like it would be right at home on the street and if I read correctly CC/G it's probably a small block.

This was about 1992. My 67 in the far lane running against my buddy Rex's 57. Mine had an L88 with Mondello heads, Rex had a BB 454. He beat me with a 11:80 ish over my 12:01 Rex 57 : Larry 67-1.jpg

Oh man ... I need to go home, and find pictures of the most "un-fun" car my Dad ever owned.

It was an original paint, 8,000 mile, black w red stinger stripe 400 hp 427 convertible. Every chalk mark under the sun BUT with Mondello heads, Jahn's pistons, Jardine headers, reworked Offenhauser dual quad intake, w Carter AFB's.

Beautiful car, but always on jack stands. Dad didn't want to "harm" his time capsule ... formerly owned by a dentist that he used to run his 409 Impala for. East coast drag race circuit.

Car worth a bucket load today. In 1987, it was only worth $11k. Ha.

This is the first time I've heard Mondello on a Chevy since.

The biggest mistake you can make with a Corvette is to not use it and
enjoy it, and I have firsthand knowledge of that. I understand wanting
to keep a pristine example in that condition, and the carelessness of
drivers these days can scare the daylights out of you, but if your 'vette
is a driver then drive it. My second, and final, 'vette was a '69 so I won't
post a photo, but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I should have.

  24. I too had a 69 recently but it was far too stock and nice for me to mess it up, it’s gone now!

More on the Fiberfab story NOTE the 1958 DATE
    more https://silodrome.com/chevrolet-fiberfab-centurion-corvette/

    https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Eve...-CHEVROLET-CORVETTE-CUSTOM-CONVERTIBLE-210077

    from the first article

    1958 Fiberfab Centurion Corvette
It’s thought that only five or so examples of the Centurion Corvette were built in the mid-1960s until General Motors forced Fiberfab to stop construction – either for IP infringement or because the founder of Fiberfab, Warren “Bud” Goodwin, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the killing of his wife who he had discovered in bed with his head engineer. The Fiberfab Centurion

The Centurion was about as close as Fiberfab ever came to being a coachbuilder, though admittedly I’m using that term somewhat loosely.
Just as the fine coachbuilders of Italy, Germany, or England would create stunning bodies for rolling chassis built by larger automakers, the Centurion Corvette was a body designed by a 3rd party to fit 1953 through 1965 Corvette chassis.

The design was closely based on the much-loved 1959 Corvette XP-87 Stingray Racer concept car designed by Pete Brock, Bill Mitchell, and Larry Shinoda. The Stingray formed the foundation of the C2 Corvette, but it wasn’t similar enough for many, and the team at Fiberfab realized they could create a very close approximation that sat on genuine Corvette running gear.

The Corvette XP-87 Stingray Racer had a fiberglass body on a space frame chassis, and made use of C1 Corvette running gear – so the similarities between it and its Fiberfab doppelgänger are more than skin deep.

I prefer a stock bodied Corvette to this, but there have been worse crimes
    committed against Corvettes.
