Please ignore the Ronald McDonald paint scheme it’s not staying ha! I’m trying to figure out a few things, how high I should mount the engine and with a 6 deuce set up there’s no angle on the intakes so should I set the engine level? Also any engine mounts ideas for clearing the steering box would be appreciated.
Just a little tip. I've used Chevy mounts on Nailheads. Keep the frame mounts that are on your frame. Put the Chevy Rubber mount on the frame bracket . You can then make a simple plate that will bolt to the Chevy rubber mount & to the side of the Buick block ! It works really slick .
I got a crossmember from Heidts(Chassis Engineering product) along with engine mounts for said nailhead. Worked great and much more solid as engine mounts are on the crossmember that goes from frame rail to frame rail. I didn't split the wishbone either. Hope this helps. Worked great in my 32 cabriolet.
That looks really good, I would prefer biscuit style mounts over Chevy style, just have to get around my steering box
Paddy, the crossmember and mounts from Heidts(Chassis Engineering) ARE USING the biscuit style mounts. You will need to buy a mini-starter to clear the steering box. I've got a thread on here somewhere with the details of the engine change. Scan for "75 years". https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...now-driving-with-425-gs-buick-engine.1105066/ My nailhead is the 425 cu inch that I took out of a 1965 Buick Riviera Gran Sport. It WAS tight but it is in there! Good luck, Al
