Well brothers, after introducing myself in the HAMB, some informations about a shark wich is robbering over over german landscapes...
build in 1950, i bought the car in the end of summer in 2014 from a very good friend of mine, who imported the box from New york, he prepared the car for the german governement street rules an give the blue paint
i drove it without problems 250km at home, but i recognized, that a little work the car needed.
cause: the right brake cylinder in the front was leaky:oops: and the tolerance of the stearing wheel was a quarter to both sides...mmpf...so it was realy hazardous riding the box in a hard way (must know, there is a little bit "caramba" under the hood)
we made the frontbrakes new, changed the steering box (was not cheapy, it is from a volvo p140, and only one vendor in germany had a remastered one, and so 650,-apples away), looked, found and mounted a front stabilizer bar and made the shock absorber completly new
then comes my pinstriping-friend Switschi to decorate the car with the shark. I also needed 4 new tires....and after this work the shark was ready to go...but there is even time a little bit work on it...you know: driving means screwing
    here are some pictures

look, touring with the german "Yellow angel travel organization" cause mr. shark was a little bit ill...
he had stomachache after eating a german plastic car at the higway......idiocy....
    the starter had a defekt
thats all for this time, there is enough something other to tell about enjoying and crying with this car...but later, must go outside to drive through the sunnfull german autumnal sunday
    Bye Winki

Good that you are enjoying your car! I reckon you don't see that many shoeboxes in Germany. You mentioned getting the car drivable for Germany, what did that entail?

    there are some important facts:
First the technical: mainly should all in a good substanz, no rustleaks, no oilleaks....they controll it often very exactly , then you need spezial proof and certificates for all the things at the car wich are in "no german-standard", like red headlights, red blinker lights, the odometer in mls/h, the frontlights (you must changing to standard H4, sidepipes, lakepipes.... every enrollment cost you money the first 30,-€ and every following 20,-€. The full check cost also money...:(
Second the facts for the historical certification: must know, that a car, wich is older than 30years can earn this certification, but!!!: the car must be in a nearly typical condition as it was produced alternatively in a condition with typical historic conversions...and here we are in the field of customizing, there are no completly clear rules, what is ok and what not
For example you can increase the power of your old car with a supercharger, but not with a modern engine management system... implantating a big engine with realy power in a car of the 30-ies is also..mmh...such a thing...but the life everytime is findig a way...hihihi
another fact is: some validators have a great heart for old cars and technical changing ...some are bastards...
so its mostly better, you know someone of the good ...understand me ;)
The plus of the historical certicate are minimal street taxes and minimal insurance contributions and you can drive through all cities, in some cities we have a realy idotic low-emission zone (in Leipzig also)....
Is it enough information for you at this moment? For more ask me, it´s no problem
    Greetings Winki

Thank you Winki. It sounds like socialism is alive and well in your country.I am sorry to hear that.Do people still manage to build hot rods and customs under those conditions ?I know I have seen some really nice custom motorcycles from Germany.

We have pretty shitty laws too,but looks like yours are a bit tighter.Just wondering, did you find the sway bar(stabilizer)from europe,or did you have to order it from US?

Well Guys, it´s sometimes not easy, but if we are sly as a fox, then....;).....it will be go on!!!
@Finnrodder: The sway bar is from the Amerika and the unbelievable thing is: it´s from the mopar domain in essentially produced for the rear axle....but it was the only part like this wich can be adapted...crazy world....had to search a long time

Now having a little time to show some work at the "Sharky". In beginning of sommer i installed the music ensemble and produced the rear shelf...this is shurely not so spectacular like making a top chop, but maybe someone is interested in to look
    [IMG]
    the base
    [IMG]
The speaker board, used a spezial plate from glued laminated timber
    [IMG]
    mounted
    [IMG]
my buddy "The gentle Mr. Metze" was helping me to install the cables (He likes this business, and so i had the chance to make him happy...hihihi)
I needed an axactly line and made a mask from cardboard with metrics
    [IMG]
conveyed at the rear shelf (flexible plastic) and proofing the accuracy of fit
    [IMG]
    with the "sound leaks"
I used spray glue for fixing the cloth (gloves are really needfull for doing this work)
    ready to install
    [IMG]
I mounted 3 special fixing plates to press the rear shelf in the window gasket, cause i dont wanted to see any
    bolts
    [IMG]
    and this way it´s looking
    [IMG]
produced a box for the radio
    [IMG]
    ready
In my mind the radio is good matching to the rest of the gauges...all together is having a little bit racing look
