Last weekend an old service station in Desert Center, CA was cleaned out at auction, which rescued a bunch of vehicles that were sitting and rotting (or, with the dry climate, sitting and patina-ing):

That '30 Indian 4 was the top seller among the vehicles... A friend of mine bought the 1916 Reo Six. Thanks for looking!

Awesome pic, do you have more? Rip rap vehicles fascinate me for some reason. Thanks for sharing.

That coupe cowl looks a lot like a roadster cowl. Weird

I’ve posted pics from this spot on the river before, in this thread I believe. This was a quick, muddy, trip after church, so the pics aren’t great, but here are a couple more. There’s a desoto with a hemi, a couple of Lincoln’s, a ‘51 ford wagon with flattie, down there. You can see where the water line is. Most of these only show up when the dam is open.

  17. I see the potential of making some like this out of it.

  18. Yep it's a 40. I was almost certain it was a 39 when I saw the grille.
    The 39 2dr is a little different.

Many years ago in Israel. 56 sedan delivery has been saved I believe, the rest became rust or Uzi SMGs unfortunately.

And in 2019, just after a couple idjits in a stolen BMW clobbered it :
    paducah continental.jpg
Idjit #1 was a real prize: the BMW caught fire and he ran off, leaving his girlfriend (idjit #2) in it. The cops rescued her and caught him. (1st photo taken by me, 2nd photo posted by Harley Hall III on the "You Know You're From Paducah, KY When..." FB page)

As far as I can see, the tortured wreck is/was a '39 Chevrolet. There are no details left to tell the difference btw. '39 vs '40 in it. The body could be either one, but as the front clip is definetely '39 one has no reason to doubt for the rest of the wreck.

What year is this GMC? 1949? Earlier? When were the head lights totally sunked in the fenders?

  24. ..I'm done talkin about it, but it's a 40 Chevy tudor body with a 39 grille, 39's have a more
pronounced hump trunk than a 40 sedan, 39's had tailites up on rear quarters, 40's were down lower on body...

  25. It's probably a 50 to 53 maybe even newer. GM made them I think until 1959. That cab is often called the Cannonbal.

  26. Exactly, the 40 had a more sloping trunk back.
