    Hello,
My wife and I have owned several cars that just do it for us. It is the enjoyment of being able to go out to the garage without any worries about either car starting. That was a major problem in those early hot rod years. (the hot rod prep was the day before an important event or family business.) All of our cars at one time or another had that dreaded "click-click" sound early in the morning...

So far, my 14 year old car is very reliable, is very fast, handles like a Riverside Raceway sports car and it starts every single time with a mellow rumble. I have no qualms about going 200 miles to Long Beach to see what is new at the Lions Dragstrip Museum for the next phase. I always have my flash drive with new films for their future displays we had talked about prior to that long road trip.

My wife has a 5 year old car that had to be reliable just because it was our granddaughter’s limousine service. We like being involved with our granddaughter since birth and it is fun going with her to different places. As she gets older, those places turn out to be school pickup, going to lunch, drop off/pick up at ballet/dance practices, and of course, shopping.

So, from the beginning, my wife’s car had to be extremely safe, very reliable, stylish and handle well in all kinds of weather. Can’t disappoint the next generation with some crappy road hog… Our granddaughter likes my wife’s car, so that is great. My wife mentioned giving away her car to our granddaughter when she turns 16 in a few years.

How to solve a problem of our next car trade-in or an outright buy? Since the two daily drivers are the most reliable cars we have owned, it is hard to give up that feeling while driving all over So Cal.

If this 1965 Chevelle two door station wagon is set up correctly and is reliable, that could takeover my 14 year old sporty daily driver. It would have as much horsepower or more, new suspension, fully adjustable bucket seats, the all important A/C with the choice of a 4 speed or a modified manual/automatic transmission. It would haul a$$$ and still be able to carry 10 bags of mulch or a lot of building/garden products in the back.

No gargantuan wheels, just simple 15 inch American Mag 5 spoke Wheels, have to stay somewhat traditional in this final purchase/build. So, do we make the changeover soon, or do we stay with what we have in our reliable daily drivers? It is so much easier on us when the transportation is taken care of in a reliable car with minimal maintenance. Our monthly car upkeep is a minimal gas tank fill up every two weeks.

Note: Oh, oh… My wife just saw a new, all wheel drive car/wagon with 130 more hp, is 1.5 sec quicker from 0-60 and gets approximately 20 mpg (although as little driving we do in So Cal, that is not a deal breaker) From our 20-30 something era, I have created a monster that is an odd duck in today’s times.

    Note 2:

This great build just popped up in the HAMB classifieds. Would that fit in our small two car garage? It is done well and the build photos are an indication of the quality of work.

So if the trade/buy is made, our granddaughter gets my wife’s fast, small, all wheel drive wagon, my wife gets her wish of a 400+ hp sporty all wheel drive wagon, and I tool around in @jakesbackyard (nice going…you make it very tempting…) cool 1929 Model A that is a well built hot rod and it has A/C. (or the newly constructed 65 Chevelle wagon) The only car to hit the road would be my 14 year old fast coupe, but that would probably be sold to our hot rod enthusiast, niece’s husband, as he likes all kinds of cool cars.

I couldn't be happier with the '36 Cabriolet I got in trade from HAMBer Hamtown Al, and is a keeper for life. A'35/36 Cabriolet is one, of only two, cars on my "bucket list" and I finally got one.... BUT if that '33/'34 Ford Sedan Delivery were ever to come along....Hmmm:confused:

I'd be happy to trade my '29 Sport Coupe project and '29 roadster pickup project for a '30-'31 5 window coupe body.

    A 32 5 window.
Full fenders and original Henry steel.

Actually I don't think I could let my RPU go after building it from scratch starting in 2010 it's my first build from the ground up and I'm almost done.

A 32 5 window would be nice to park beside it however. :D:D

  18. I will trade my 50 Ford Coupe for a stack of Ben Franklin's. :D HRP

  19. I swapped a roached 53 stude coupe for this hokey-ass home made woody. 34woodie12_07.jpg Disassembled the awful body, sold off some parts and used the cherry pie 34 chassis under my coupe.
Mrs Rocky wants us to have a more civilized car so I'm kinda looking for a 40 coupe with a/c, roll up windows and stuff she likes. Problem is, I don't wanna part with my 34 coupe!

Well, my cars not that much to look at right now. But I have always loved the 61-63 T-Birds. I would not hesitate to trade my car for a decent Bird.

I've been trying to sell my roadster (plus 2 projects) for over a year & have even offered to trade + cash for a coupe - no takers, only a couple low offers & project trades. I guess the kids will give them away when I go join my late wife & friends in the State Vets Cemetery.
