The back of my car is pretty good with the few changes I have made to it. But the front is still completely stock. I am looking for some ideas for the front. I found Glory Grills page and like the tube grille but can't find a price and Mac's has one but $600 is too rich for my pockets.. So lets see some
Tube grills look great and that 600 is what glory grills is gonna charge ya. You can make your own out of stainless tubing and some fab skills for a lot less. 55's look good with Desoto grills, 54 Chevy and some added teeth, imperial grills, really when you start adding up the cost of finding one of those and a re chrome 600 bucks is a steal. A inexpensive route would be some metal mesh and drawer pulls
We had a full tube grille in my dads 55 Sunliner in 62 from One of the LA suppliers. I liked tube grilles but they looked bad then and now. 54 Chevs in them look best to me...
That grille reminds me of a 60-61 (?) Mercury grille. Might cut one down to fit. Is a 57 Buick too big?
Funny, way back in high school a buddy of mine put a tube grill in his 55 and gave me his stock one to put in my 53. I think it looked great. Wish I had a picture of it.
Here are a couple of Photo-shopped renditions; parking lights outboard and inboard. (Thanks, @madfish and @Rot 'n Kustom.
I did one of these with the 52-54 most of them would apply, at least it will give you guys more options. HRP 4 pages worth. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...sting-custom-grilles-for-52-54-fords.1070210/
I sectioned mine a little in the center to make the length right if I remember and used yellow fog lights on the ends instead of the stock turn signals.
I think the '55 Ford grille is one of the most attractive grilles ever made. I think it would look great adapted to an F100 pickup. I think it would look better if the parking lights were not there and the grille went right out to the ends. Just my opinion..
REPOST: (Sorry, deleted by mistake! ) Of course, the grille looks pretty good right at home. A little paint did the trick on this one!
Here are a few ideas for customizing the front. Mostly simple and cheap. 1) Blackout the center mesh 2) Add another bar from a spare grille. 3) Bullets! Gene Winfield -style 4) Accessory grille from a 1950 Mercury
