This was going to be a coupester style body but un-noticed damage to a quarter put me on hold till I can find another left '30 sport coupe panel...
1930 truck cowl with 1 tudor and 1 truck tilted back w/s post... '32 cowl top added to the truncated A tank... w/s posts tilted back 9*… '31 vicky below the w/s strip...
narrowed the posts left to right and front to back... lower A pillars are narrowed left to right...

buddy hammerforms these door tops / caps... doors are also narrowed at the A and B jams...

script welded into the reversed '30 firewall...
    DSCN3610.JPG
    .
a '30-'31 repop tudor door skin,
    DSCN1760.JPG
cut to 7 13/16" for my pick up with coupe doors...
bent the new flange on my break , shrunk them at a buddy's garage...
    DSCN4621.JPG
    .
has the beltlines, lower reveal, compound curve and 90* vertical flanges...
    1 skin made a pair...
    DSCN4620.JPG
    .
used a '30 inner door structure to get the correct arch and it gives me the inner flange to fold the skin over for the factory type look that I am after... I will butt the rear panel to the cross section of the inner jams... DSCN4625.JPG

Digging it so far. Are you going to put a box behind it?

  7. Looks like a great start! How did you form the big body line? Multiple small bends?

Totally impractical, but love the early 30's roadster pickups.

Like it so far. Like the Ford script set into the firewall and the reversed firewall. Looking forward to seeing this progress.

1948 truck dash, narrowed 1.65" between the cluster and speaker grill and 1.65" from the left side of the glovebox door and the metal behind it... this keeps the radio delete and speaker grill centered...

roughed out a pair of B pillars and a 90* lower mounting flange...
plan is to butt weld a tapered vertical strip to the rear of the panel on each side, to bring the inner edge to 90* to the frame... bend a 90* flange to that edge so I can bolt now, weld in later, a bead rolled center panel with matching flanges between them … DSCN4636.JPG DSCN4639.JPG DSCN4638.JPG

bent a 48" long "cap" to run along the top of the rear panel... It will cover the 5/8" x 5/8" steel tube going across the back between the skins … [pic]
the tube spaces the cap rearward to the match the overlap in the rear corner... DSCN4665.JPG

[2] vertical and [4] short horizontal support strips between the B pillar and rear corner...
    headed to the metal shop for a chunk of 18ga. - 39" x 25.375"...will get [3] 3/4"horizontal beads

Rear panel cut, ends bent into flanges... clamped together for fit... needs 1/8" trimmed from the bottom 3/4" x 2" cross rail to tighten up the gaps and the 5/8" upper tube welded in...Saturday ?
decided not to run horizontal stiffener beads, only 36" wide... asked 3 guys, and the metal shop, they could only make the thin 3/8" beads... it looks too much like stock car stuff... so I decided to let it stays smooth... DSCN4690.JPG DSCN4691.JPG DSCN4693.JPG DSCN4695.JPG DSCN4696.JPG
    .
IMO... the crimped flanges and the vertical seams tend to give it that '28-'29 truck cab look...

Ordering a 53" long section of steel "T" strip Monday, $47.00
going to cut it in half and run one half in each of the vertical "seams...
kind of goes with the '28 PU look...
    DSCN4690.JPG
    got it Tuesday noon...

    36" x 25.5" center panel = $15.00 …
    5/8" x 5/8" cross brace = $3.00...
    [2] 3/4" x 2" cross brace = $15.00 ea. ...
    [2] side top caps = 12.00...
    r. top cap = $3.00...

Doubled the thickness of the door end's top skins front and rear... built the steps on each quarter that lets the doors close with the door tops flush to the quarters and the door sides overlapped...
