I saw that car in South Bend a few years ago at the meet. I believe the back half is from a PT Cruiser. I have pictures of it at home, I will post them up later.

That is a different combination. Someone definitely thinking outside of the box.

  6. Looks like someone did a lot of work,I don't recall ever seeing one in the past, almost appears as though a old dodge panel may have been used for parts to create the Stude, regardless it's a nice piece. HRP

  7. Studebaker also did a pickup version called a Coupe Express. Kool stuff for sure.

As promised. I realize now that this one is a different car. I think this is the one made from a PT Cruiser.

This one is similar to the car originaly posted. This could have been made by a coach builder back in the day. P1020945.JPG P1020946.JPG

Beautiful trucks. Not much distance between the headlights.
Hudson built some handsome trucks as well.

    Now that is soooo cool.

  12. Have three PT' and a few Stude's....just not thinking there's enough PT for a build on a President or Commander chassis........

  13. That Stude pickup pictured above may be the best looking pickup of all time.

The car in the original post was built, here in Missouri, by Ford Stoecker. He combined a '37 Studebaker 4-door sedan with the back of a '50 Dodge humpback delivery. 108_0895.jpeg 108_0897.jpeg

This is the one in the original picture- this is during the build. Was never offered by Studebaker- this one is front half 1937 Studebaker President sedan, rear half 1936-38 Dodge hump-back delivery. Comes from Pennsylvania I believe.

The photo in your link, from an earlier post, has Missouri plates on it. Everything meshes except the Pennsylvania connection.......Glad to know the history of the car/truck.

I love 'Phantom' builds when they are well done, as is this one.

Yup. Ford Stoecker's Studebaker. Here's a very recent pic from a Studebaker meet...

  18. 37 Studes look like they were snatched right out of a Dick Tracy comic book. Love that look.

A recent write-up on a 1937 Studebaker Express in car kulture Deluxe(October 2019) had my attention until I read that maybe only 100 of 3000 produced are left. Prices for restored and unrestored are very expensive.
I saw one of these in restored condition at the Studebaker Museum last year.and another at the Gilmore Museum.
Here is an article on the car

The car was built in MO, but I believe he moved (to PA?) since then.

Ford told me he used the rear portion of a 1950 Dodge delivery. He formed the front portion of the roof to transition between the two rooflines and mimic the humpback Dodge (and earlier Rockne) deliveries.
