Bastards. Thats so frustrating. The last guy that hit one of my cars I didnt even ask him for any money because it was so small, but just the fact he came and knocked on my door and told me about it put him on top in my book.
    Sorry to hear about that....

  4. Put up REWARD FOR INFORMATION signs close by, regarding the incident. Date, time, make it look good...no dollar signs or anything, just big ass letters " REWARD ". Someone knows, usually more than one.

The REWARD - a clear concious for them, and who to send the bill to for repairs, for you.

I had the Lower quarter and bumper on my Dakota done that way at the store and it cost me a $100 Deductable and the insurance company had to pay over $700 for the Hit and Run. Then at about the same time this lady scraped my wifes rig and stayed right there until my wife got off work and insisted on her taking it to a body shop so she could pay to have it fixed and it only came to $112. I really like that lady and we even talk on the phone now and then. Gumpa

My neighbor's kid did that to me a long time ago. I (like you) was pissed and I didn't know for sure who did it - I grabbed my dog and went for a "walk" with my trusty tape measure in hand. I previously measured the exact height where the damage was and proceeded to measure every car in the neighborhood to see who the "canidates" were. And behold it was the neighbors kid - right height and rust free bare metal to prove it. Now in the past I have left stuff like this go - but since he tried to pull a fast one - he got the bill. It was nice to "win" one.

this happend to me twice last year, i loaned my 62 caddy to my friend because he didnt have a car and needed to get around. i went over to his house on day and noticed some paint was missing off the trunk lid and there were a couple of dents, so i ake him WTF?! he had no clue. realized that the damage must have been done by a lifted truck, look aroun the corner and low and behold a lifted toyota with no front bumper, i walk over to check it out. there was white paint still stuck to the frame!! kid wasnt home but my friend took care of him later. little bastard.

I had two little neighbor kids pay me a visit a few years ago on their riding lawnmower. When I was finally able to get them back on their mower and on their way, they got into a fight over who was driving. Took off with both fighting over the steering wheel. They made almost a complete circle in my front yard before they ran into the side of my car. Their mother promised she'd pay for the damages ($300). I'm still waiting 10 years later.

I hate when people do this. I had a late model convertible that some dumbass barely squeaked by and flattened the whole rear quarter in. Luckily after buffing, it wasn't noticeable (it's just 'customized'). No note, no nothing. Same thing happened many moons ago to my first car, right in the chrome trim hard in rear fender. No note. I'm sitting at a parking lot while the Mrs. runs in shopping and here some old couple comes barreling in and nails the car in front of them. I sat there in disbelief, noticed the husband going in the store. I waited . . . didn't see anyone. I got out and looked, the car had hit hard enough to move the other car. Still nobody . . . I yelled at an employee and she tracked the car owner (another employee) down. The guy's wife is getting out and getting all pissy saying I should mind my business, and then lying about the car position and everything else. Come on people -- grow a sack! If you screw up, own up to it and move on . . it's just metal and easily fixable (sometimes) but the moral issues here are the ones not repairable. Jeez!

how do you know it was a neighbor , do you live in a gated community where no one else is aloud to enter and park near your car ? Could have very well been a total stranger .

maybe but the way it was my back light bezel is pushed back from the side like if they backed into it as they were coming out their driveway but im not sure i could be wrong

  13. How about a lard ass soccer mom trying to squeak in between me and a light post (I was in an end parking spot), she barely gets her minivan in the illegal spot, opens the door..... and dings the center of my door (while I was in it). It was hard enough to rock/shake my 4000lb car, then she gets out and her unloading mass causes the minivan to raise about 2 inches while her door is still pressed hard against my door. 3 inch ding and 2 inch long scrape down to the light grey guidecoat of primer.

I lost it! I got of my car and shouted "hey look what you did" pointing at the damage to my car, (she hadn't made it very far) she turns back and says your car is "old" and it doesn't make any difference the paint (primer) doesn't even shine.

I'm retrospect... I'm glad I didn't have anything handy or I would've been buying one of those big side ddoor pieces of minivan glass.

The flip side of the coin is: When I first learned to drive, I slid in an icy parking lot and barely tapped the car in front of me. Well it barely showed up amongst the other (more major) road rash already on the bumper. My dad was with me and called the cops just to set a good example. Mistake. The fellows insurance claim had him repainting the entire front end of the car - $400 bucks later!

I agree you ought to own up to any damage you cause, but when people are such assholes about it, I can understand why you wouldn't.

So far, all i've gotten were scuffs on my rattle-canned bumper..
One from the retarded repair guy for the apt building while I watched. Moron.

No way man. I would have gotten out the keys and walked all around her van with her watching, then said, "there, now we're even."

And lol at the story of the two kids in the riding lawnmower.

I had pulled in to a sparking spot one time and taped the rear bumper of a honda. It left a li'l smudge on his car so I left a note. While I was shopping the police called and asked me to come down so they could get my insurance info and file the report. So I go down and the owner accused me of driving all the way down the opposite side of his car. The fact that it was rusted all to hell was enough proof for the cops to not believe him. But I was gonna slit his throat when I first heard what he said!

  18. Gotta agree...I've calmed down in my old age, but I had someone ding the shit out of my car when I was sleeping in it. Scared the crap out of 'em when I jumped up...I made sure we were even too.

I had a car fresh out of the paint booth ...I went to work and parked far enough away from any buildings where no one else would need to park...lots of spots up close. After hearing my alarm going off (even old cars need alarms in Sac), I ran out to see a quarter-sized ding in my door so deep that there was metal on the ground....no cars in sight. I never got even on that one.:(

I had a woman tell me she didn't care she hit my car with a shopping cart once. I picked the shopping cart up, got a good run and busted her windshield. Asked her if she "cared now" took the oppurtunity when she ran off screaming to get the hell out of there. Hmmm, my Pop may have been right - if I hadn't settled down some I'd probably be in jail or dead by now.

Totally feel your pain man. Same shit happened to me just a few months ago when I was getting my truck ready for Paso. Came home one night and found a great big dent with creases on the bed. I had enough body work to do as it was and now had to waste 2-3 days fixing that stupid shite. Too many people have zero integrity!

Actually had a guy in a pointlessly large 4x4 try to get into the parking space in front of my buddies Porsche 911, and he DROVE up the hood all the way to the windshield when his foot "slipped off the brake"... Guy got out like nothing happened... Tried to say that he didn't do any damage to the car!!!!!! I couldn't do anything because I was on probation already...:D The guy walked off to go shopping or something, and when he got back, he was arrested for felony hit and run..... They towed the truck, and they are lucky they got it on the trailer... We still have a huge bag full of all of the important suspension bolts that we removed while he was gone:eek:  The car that he "didn't do any damage to, was a $75,000 brand new Porsche, that had to be totaled because the whole front end, and cowel section was crushed......

Last year my mothers car was parked outside of my grandparents house overnight. Someone hit it so hard that they crushed the whole rear deck lid and rear quarters in. Once we finnaly worked the trunk open, it would never close again. Somone had to be really moving to hit it, it was far worse than just someone backing up. No one ever left a note or anything. The damage was probably around $900-1200 if you took it to a body shop. It was just a 97 ford escort, but when we sold it, it was worth around $2000 if it didnt have the damage. We wound up selling a car that ran great for $500 because some asshole couldnt take responsibility for his mistake. Really frustrating.

    Co-Worker of mine.....(Im a school bus driver)

Well anyway....Erik pulls into a Carls Jr for lunch in his school bus when some guy pulls right next to him and hits the bus and breaks off a mirror. Erik is inside when this happend and the man asks the girl behind the counter "who's school bus?"....Erik overheard then asks "why"......The guys says "I think I hit it".......Then proceeded to tell the girl behind the counter what he wanted to eat.....hahahahaha...So Erik walks out there and sure enough...Hit the fucker and left the truck against the bus. Guy walks out and gets in his truck and TAKES OFF!....But he sees Erik takeing pictures of his plates with his camera phone so turns back and settles it.
