For something different.... Little GTI VW commercial. Don't laugh or barf, Little GTO was originally written for a Pontiac commercial.

    "Those were the days"...
The theme to All In The Family TV series by Archie and Edith Bunker.

“All in the Family is often regarded in the United States as one of the greatest television series of all time”

    Hello,
In a discussion about old TV shows that everyone watched weekly for what seemed like forever, All In The Family was brought up. We all got a laugh out of that one. Remembering family gatherings with people that did not know about cars or hot rods, there was always the discussions about this show and theme song. What is a “geearollasalle?”

No one knew the lyrics and no one recorded those theme songs, so the present day seems like that is what we did back then, too…Nope…no websites for the answers. Even when the words were separated, people still did not know what a LaSalle was from the older times.

Finally, at the end of the discussion, after staying quiet for the whole time, I piped up and told them about a LaSalle car and how we knew. It was because, we had a 3 speed LaSalle transmission in our 1940 Willys Coupe and in my first Ford Sedan Delivery.

“LaSalle was an American brand of luxury automobiles manufactured and marketed by General Motors' Cadillac division from 1927 through 1940.”

As terrible as the main character (Archie Bunker) was to everyone, including his family, I don’t know how we sat and watched that show. It is like watching a tv show these days with those stupid laugh tracks, except:

“All in the Family is noted as a show that signaled to networks that fake laughs were a thing of the past, as it proudly proclaimed after the credits rolled on each episode until the last few seasons. “All in the Family was recorded on tape before a live studio audience.”

    “Everybody pulled his weight,
Gee, our old LaSalle ran great,
    Those were the days…”

I guess those days were full of “live in front of an audience” taped shows, not like the silly tv sitcoms that have built in laugh tracks that make today’s shows unwatchable. If it is funny, then we as the audience will laugh and enjoy it. (Not canned laughter) It cheapens the show and acting.

    Jnaki

But, back in the early TV days, taped shows in the afternoon were shown later in prime time. That gave the censors time to edit out bloopers and bad words.

  14. The Refreshments...these guys ROCK!!!

    THIS IS THE ADDRESS:

One of their songs is 55 Ford....the words

There´s gotta be some changes made in my life
I wanna ride around in style dressed sharp as a knife
I´m tired of walkin´ around here all alone
I need to get me a motor of my own
If i had that car everything would be fine
All the beautiful women in town would be standin´ in line
They´ll be chasin´ me when i´m comin´ on down the street
Cryin´ daddy daddy please let me take a seat
That´s the way it´s gonna be
    Still it´s just a fantasy
Utill I can afford that -55 Ford
Utill I can afford that -55 Ford
Until I get a hold of that -55 Ford
    A t-bird convertible that´s all i need
To get me in the race and me in the lead
With that v8 motor roarin´ underneath the hood
I´ll be hot as the sun, feelin´ fine lookin´ good
That´s the way it´s gonna be
    Still it´s just a fantasy
Utill I can afford that -55 Ford
Utill I can afford that -55 Ford
Until I get a hold of that -55 Ford
First it warms your heart, then it reads your mind
It´s got trigger torque power with a thunderbird line
Detachable top white wall tires neptune green
Automatic transmission it´s the finest thing you´ve seen
    I don´t mind savin´ all my dough
´Cause it´s simply the only way i know
To change my cloudy skies into blue
Now with the cabtop down baby i´m comin´ after you
That´s the way it´s gonna be
    Still it´s just a fantasy
    Utill I can afford that -55 Ford 55fordblack.jpg 55fordonstreet.JPG
