Dad parked his '37 Ford pickup on blocks in the barn after he graduated high school. it sat there until last weekend when we finally pulled it out and took it to his shop. It sat in that barn for 55 years! He wants to build a new flathead for it and convert the truck to juice brakes. The original engine was rebuilt after the truck was parked in '64, but it was stored in a shed that burned down. We pulled the heads on it on Saturday and found one melted piston! We may be able to rebuild the engine, but it'll need everything. It might be better to find a complete running engine to start with. Anyway, here are some pictures of Dad's truck:

  3. That's soooo COOL. A 1936 Ford pickup. It's your dads. It's parked for 55 years. Your restoring it together. So ya please, like Don said. Keep us posted on the build. Do you have any other photos of him or you with it? Plus take lots of photos of you guys with the build too. Good luck, making lots of great memories.:) THANKS

OK, what did you do so far?! It's been a day or two, any updates! Fun with Family, great project.

  13. 1935, 1936, 1937 Ford pickups share the same front fenders. the grill shells, and hoods are the main difference. Hence the confusion.

  14. I forgot to mention that 1935, 1936 Ford pickups have a one piece windshield, but the 1937 ford truck has a two piece windshield.

Awesome truck and I love father son builds I have done a few off topic restorations with my dad. Still have a couple of them but he has no interest in hotrods so with my willys I'm on my own but can't wait for my son to be out in the garage with me. Good luck on the project and as others have said take lots of pics with you both with the truck I made the mistake of not doing it.
Look forward to seeing your progress

  16. It looks like a pretty solid old truck, better than what many of us have started with.

Way cool. And I second the remark that you did not have to go on a hunt.

  18. The REAL story here is the same barn for 55 years. Does Dad still live there? Does he now own the farm?
    Nice pickup.

Wow, your dad did good keeping such a truck, in what looks to be great shape, for so long. You two should have this done by spring!

1936, 1937 had two piece windshield, or at least my 1937 has a two piece windshield.

    I
I guess I should have worded that better. I meant his was a 36, because the 37 had a two piece windshield. Based on my 37 and 36 trucks. 18DB982D-3791-4102-A860-7F6D550E4E59.jpeg

It's a 37, notice the two piece windshield. Looks like I'm about ten posts late.

Well, shoot! After looking real close, through all that dirt, it does look like a two piece windshield! At first glance I thought it was a one piece windshield! What’s 12 months amongst friends! Lol Whatever, it’s going to be a cool ride!!

Great project!!!.....I have a ‘37 to build after I finish the car I’m working on. Not many of the parts for my pickup were ever on the same vehicle before. As others have said, keep us posted......Mark

  30. Do it as quickly as possible, and don't let money worry you. Think now, and soon, not later and eventually. Sharing this with your father is priceless, and the loss of time irreplaceable.
