I have loved hot rods all my life, owned a number of cars over the years,
and always looked forward to some special ones....A 26/27 T Cpe has
always rung a loud bell for me, have bought and sold a number of very
nice bodies...always thought it would be cool to find a complete one and
build an Old Style Full Fendered Coupe....upholstered running boards
and all....And now, I come across a very good deal on an older restoration,
bring it home....But for some reason, can't bring myself to tear it apart....
Is this a temporary condition, are there support groups for this way of
thinking, or am I doomed to looking forward to parades in small country
    towns......???????

Enjoy it as it is. Cars like that in original condition are becoming a rarity.
    It's rolling history.
Once you tear it apart, it's just another hot rod.

  4. I don't know.... I would be tempted to clean it up, put some spray paint on it and drive it. but it would be fun to cut it up....

  5. I was expecting a pristine original or a numbers matching restoration, get to work and build your dream! HRP

If you don’t tear it apart and build your hot rod then yes you’re doomed :D

I'm in my mid 30's and I'd have a hard time hot rodding a car that original. If anything soup up the original motor with period parts.

Yeah I think I would have started with a body, not a complete car, knowing that none of the original running gear or frame would be up to the task.

Look at it this way. You have to sand down the rust, get rid of the wheels so you might as well replace the rear , add a four link then a dropped axle, update the steering with said axle change ......:D

  16. Why drive around in a parade car when you could really be having fun in something like this.

Build something along the lines of Marks T, anyone would like to be driving a T that looks this good and you have what it takes to build a car very similar. HRP

Perhaps Deuces was kidding about a new coat of paint but just in case he wasn't I'd think give it a bath with scotchbrite pads and Comet cleanser and consider that part done. I agree with the hopped up T engine, or perhaps a bit updated to a Model A banger. Make it a bit more "useable" than something to just toodle around. I never could understand parades anyway.

If you don't build this prime piece into the hot rod of your dreams? Then.... Why yes, yes you are!

  19. I'm a Hot Rodder, and your asking my opinion? There's a few reasons why there's so many old Fords still. 1st they made millions of them. 2nd so many were put in storage due to the limited use of a stock model T. Some people like antiques , some like Hot Rods, and some like both. For me Hot Rods are sooo much more FUN! I vote to cut it up, and sell the boring parts to the other old farts! lol Ron....

That is a very nice T. I tried to read the price on the for sale sign. If I read that right, that is quite a steal! When was this pic taken?

OK, two birds with one stone. The car you want to build will need a new frame and fenders, so take the body off and build it. Then take the rest and build a T Speedster!

  23. I understand why you hesitate to blow it apart. That sucker is nearly a century old. I had the same reservations with an original 28 RPU I owned. I decided to sell it to someone else who wanted an all original one. But think about how difficult it would be to drive it on today's roadways with the inattentive and careless drivers all around you doing 70-80 mph. That thing would be dangerous on the highway. You could always sell it to a restorer and buy you a body since you probably would be changing just about everything else anyway.

Looks like some Canary gave it's all for that interior....
I think after you drive and fart around with it as a stock T you will get the hot rod it bug

Too underpowered to drive on public roads these days. That's why you only see them in parades. If you want to enjoy it and use it then rod it, otherwise you probably wouldn't have bought it. Right?

  29. Yep. Tires flat. Chop it up. Its ruined.

    I get it.

You’ll get it over it. You’re just appreciating what it is for the moment.

Then you’ll realize you want a hot rod not a parking garage paper weight and take it apart.
