How does that work? Is it a 2cyl engine that rotates the blower? And where does the gas come from to feed the hemi?

@chrisp it looks like some kind of two cylinder pony motor to drive the blower because you can see a chain and a gear behind the shroud, but as far as where the fuel line for the hemi is i don't know.

Here’s a key element in the Novi mystique: the big 10-inch centrifugal supercharger. Turning at 5.35 times engine speed through a torsion shaft and a series of straight-cut drive gears, the blower was effectively a siren, piercing the air with a 43,000-rpm Doppler scream that could be heard anywhere around the 2.5-mile Speedway. Fans who experienced the Novi remember the unique sound as much as the sights. But while the blower was loud, it surely wasn’t very efficient, as the tip speed of the plate-sized impeller exceeded 1,800 feet per second.

Here’s a Novi that was on display at this years Miller Meet. Sorry I thought I had a picture of the sign

  13. How about The Elimniator centrifugal supercharger built by Bill, and Al Dahms, the New Trend Machine 409 Chevy powered dragster that ran at Connecticut Drag-way in the early 1960's. Bill is deceased, and I don't know about Al, but when I worked for them at New Trend Machine in Glastonbury, Connecticut, in 1978, they had all the casting patterns in the shop

    Affirmative.
This setup was posted here some time back, don't recall which thread, still would like to see some closeup shots.
Curious if this is the same style that @drumyn29 has, if I remember correctly he has two different castings.

Chrisp, that looks like a 4 cylinder possibly one of the old drone aircraft engines. I believe there was a Willys years ago that had the same engine in the trunk with the blower feeding the engine up front thru tubing. I'm not sure how the one in the pic is getting its air and fuel either. Hard to tell.

Anybody ever heard of a Danekas blower or is it an after market version of a GMC 671?
