Wanted to introduce myself and tell y'all a bit about me. My name is Andre, I'm from a small town 30 miles north of New Orleans. Like most every car guy it started with car toys and Hot Rod Magazines. Growing up with a dad that was a full time mechanic and hobbyist. And my mom's dad a hot rodder and custom-izer in the late 50's early 60's, also he was a full time body man in New Orleans. I feel lucky to have family members into this cool and creative hobby of hot rods and customs. Growing up in the gulf coast and deep south we mostly had muscle cars and trucks like most places but never really any true hot rods. Except in the black and white pages of old Hot Rod magazines. And as of late buying Rodders Journal's and looking at old photos of cars my grandfather had worked on. Here are a few I would like to share with y'all. One of pretty good notoriety was Knot Farrington's T-Bird named "Hel's Angel" named after his wife. You can read all about it in the latest issue of The Rodders Journal. Don, Joey and Dave did a great job. I was awesome to work and talk with them. My late grandfathers name was Floyd Pfeffer. He did all the design and metal body work on Knot's car. Him and Knot were close friends and always collaborating on how to make that T-Bird go just a little faster. Also, another project I got to work on when I was 16 and Floyd 75, was his 65 Studebaker Hawk turned 53 Commander project. When he asked if I wanted to help I jumped at the chance to learn how to shape metal. Here are some photos of the cars. A few of the Studebaker. Before: After: I also do a bit of drawing: Well that enough rambling for now. Thanks for for looking. -André
Welcome, Andre. You have some great history in your family. That TBird was like a fantasy car when it appeared in the mags of the day and it's still plenty swoopy today! I was just down in Hot Coffee, Miss. (I think it's on the map!), it's near Taylorsville. Maybe next year I'll come by for a visit, Carp.
Bravo to you Andre. You have a good eye and good composition, keep it up, see you on the Friday art show. Your artwork is appreciated! The wife and I got married in "NOLA " back in 1/2/13.
Thank yall for your warm welcomes. It really has been. Thanks for the warm welcome Carp, never heard of hot coffee until you mentioned it. It's closer south than I thought. Thank you for those kind words, I am looking forward to it. NOLA is what us locals call New Orleans Louisiana. I hope your stay down here was nice. Your pen and ink 53 chevy truck is really nice. I like the contrast between your use of darks and lights.
