Trolley buses were a good idea. I remember as a small kid visiting Cincinnati around 1949. They had trolley buses that ran nearly silently and they had 3-phase traffic signals. When we returned home to Los Angeles in 1950, I wondered why there were so few trolley buses but lots of diesel buses smoking all over town and those old semiphor 2-phase traffic signals. Seemed like we were behind the times compared to Cinci.
