Found this going through some old files - hope not a repost. Early Gabby with carbs on the Olds engine.

If you look closely it also has A/A on the tire so I would guess that he either purchased of borrowed the tires off an AA/FA.

Here are a few more from the Randy Lewis collection:

Early days with Jack Ewell and Bill Stecker out of San Pedro, CA. They went on to run a series of top fuel cars in partnership with James Kambor

This car is the successor to the Fiat that appears just a bit earlier in this thread

This appears to be the Mondello Fiat in a later life but I can't find any history on Rick Plourd

Likewise with the Martini Brothers. I can't find any information on this car but a Mike Martini out of Texas had quite a long career in top fuel cars

  9. That was how the 34 K&L pickup with the custom box looked when it was being raced in the early to mid 60s. The truck was based out of Calgary.
The driver was a friend of mine, and just passed away last month.

I agree with you, a tribute Jack Shaw Chevrolet C/A would make an excellent car to drive on the street. I am always on the look out for old photographs of the Altered. While searching, I stumbled on the Bellini Bros Altered. It appears to be the same car, but painted red. I have not been able to retrace my steps back to the Bellini Brothers car. Any idea if it is actually the same car and which came first ? Would you have any photos of either that you could share.
    Thanks,
    Gene Darnell (.060Over )

I don't have any further info or photos on the altered, but Jackshaw Chevrolet was in the Cleveland Ohio area (Euclid).
I once bought a new pair of SBC LT-1 head assemblies from them. For $139! A bargain price even then, ca 1969.

The Bellino Brothers ran that car for a long time, maybe a dozen (??) years, and it did change a lot over the years. I've seen a few photos of it but don't remember seeing it painted red.

Hey Roo, I’m wondering if Rick Plourd is the father or uncle of Brad Plourd who is driving a very cool altered in NHRA’s Comp eliminator today. Gotta love a guy who runs a Fuel Altered-looking car in an eliminator that’s mostly cookie cutter dragsters and ex-Pro Stock jelly beans.

My thoughts mirrored yours and I did manage to find that his father Bernie raced super comp and top alcohol dragsters and as of 10 years ago was running in Competition Eliminator. If the question had come up prior to the US Nationals I could have asked him there.

That looks like a homemade body. I love it.
I built my first T-bucket body - with guidance from my Dad - from an old pickup cab roof cut off and turned upside down.

The orange Model A sedan Rick's Speed Shop was from Cumberland, RI., owned by Rick Picard. That picture is from New England Dragway in New Hampshire. After running the B/A in the late sixties he sold it to buy the Mondello Maturbara AA/FA. He ran it with an early HEMI for a couple of seasons, sold it then retired. The car spent the next forty years in a garage in Rhode Island. As everyone knows the car is back in California and completely restored back Mondello Matsubara

  25. That is such a Wicked Little Truck. Any more pics of it and do you have any info on whether it survived? Based on his truck I do believe I would have liked to meet that twisted genius!!

  26. I am sorry to say, that I don't have any pictures of the truck. I am in contact with his widow, and will ask if she has any other pictures she can share.
I do know that in the mid 60s the engine was transferred into a AA dragster chassis . I don't know what happened to the truck.
I will attempt to find out more for you.

I found these 2 pics on the "Topolino, Tbucket and Bantam Altereds, nastiest things to ever hit the drags" facebook page. The early pic seems to have the same bed.

And to all of you keeping this great 73325422_2429168310452979_2005199395892494336_o.jpg 73292155_2441536362549507_1223403953748705280_o.jpg thread alive, thanks!
