Oct 20, '19 Earl & the '52 004.JPG Well, yes and no. It's 1969, and I had just traded my year's vacation for an overhaul on the '54 261 in this '52 fastback. Hopup equipment included a new Corvette exhaust manifold and a big jet in the Rochester "B" … kid across the street's dad worked at a sports car shop, & had this Jag sedan, a Mk II, I think. 4 speed & that electric OD. He's always telling me about what a wonderful unit it is, so one night I challenge him to a speed contest. Out to one of the local country road quarter miles marked with white paint on the fence posts we go. He told me "you take off, I'll catch ya". Jesus, what a dunce, I figure … well, a second or so after I dump the 9'' clutch, he shot past me in silence, and was a couple dozen cars ahead of me when time came to stuff it into second. I'm so pissed, I rip the lip off the syncro & my hand hits the division bar in the windshield, breaking both of them ...
Turns out the Jag has a 4.2 out of a recent XKE rollover ...

    GOOGLE "HUDSON" Nascar.
Also, Jack Clifford, Ike Smith and others all drag raced HUDSON with great success.
