Got a question for you’s guys.... I’m gonna run 39 pedal set in my model 40 chassis, and am in process of getting x-member cleared for clutch pedal to clear it when depressed... it looks like I’m going to have to heat and bend the arms, to clear the F1 steering column, and get in right spot.
Question: is it bad to heat and ‘straighten’ the pedals out? They currently are kicked heavily (stock) to the left, and will need to get stood up some to get positioned around the column... will this raise them too high in the vehicle?

Looks like the lever will get an inch or more longer when straightening them out some

I have mounted my pedals in our Model A to the trans mission mounts in the correct position to enable the stock A pedals to be used ,,the chev steel bellhousing is using a clutch fork that is pulled backwards I added a lever to the pedal underneath and made a pull rod the pedal is spaced out about an inch further out on shaft to get direct alignment to the fork outer pivot ,a shaft support goes forward to the back of the engine mount ,,the brake pedal is stock and I will utilise the original cross shaft by adding a lever to push forward to a cross member mounted dual cylinder ,,not a good pic I know ,,can add more ,,clutch appears to travel far enough ,,as yet engine (Mercruiser 181)not running ,,brake link and mount is next ,I will do some pics as we go ,,I am trying to keep it simple using as much original parts as possible and making things to keep costs down ,,3 speed mustang type T/Loader adapted to closed driveline ,, image.jpeg

  12. Here is a picture of the master cylinder mount in my AVATAR. No need to show the pedals since they are 100% stock. The original mechanical brake rod can be seen coming through it's original hole in the cross member. I bolted a plate to the back of the original K member using existing holes and welded a piece of square structural steel to it (to avoid welding to the vehicles original K member). I sized all of the levers to be the same as a '39 pedal assembly so the leverage and amount of travel is correct. I incorporated a '39-'48 master cylinder. The master cylinder is in the correct location to use the battery box inspection plate to fill it. I made a mirror image bracket to mount the battery on the right side of the frame.

  13. 1934x1934,
Do you have any more pictures of the linkage to master cylinders, and how you pinned shaft to lever?
I'm planning in using original pedals to run hydraulic master to hydraulic release bearing in my car.

Algoma56, I drilled through the grease fitting and out the other end of the pedal, then tapped the back side of it. I stuck a grade 8 bolt through it...I need a shorter one though.

Awesome thread! ...and I'm bringing it back.

Anyone have a pic of a 40 setup on a 32 K member? Bonus points if it's in an A with a Ford top loader. I'm very interested in the clutch linage.

    Thanks,
    Carl

not sure how you would go about it. f1 used a tab on the bearing shaft and the 39 has an arm. did you see my assembly a page or two back where I switch 38pedals around in a 32ish pedal box? its untested on the road but should work well. might help you situation.

If anyone could use, let me know and I’m sure we could work out a deal
