I think this belongs to and was built by a well known Hamber.
I hope he doesn’t mind me posting it. Best flathead I’ve ever seen !

    Not...your normal small Chevy engine.

I dunno...lotsa cool engines out there but there is something about the raw, tire burning, eyeball melting power of a banger 0F26E453-0333-465C-813B-2C4CB2976459.jpeg that gets me.

  11. If you like chrome, it's gotta be the Geraghty & Crawford "Grasshopper" T. Even the Oldsmobile block is chrome.
This is the recreation at the 2015 GNRS.

This thread definitely demonstrates that there are a lot of gorgeous engines out there. It seems just about any engine can be made to look awesome with the right parts and attention to detail.
I've heard of guys putting an Offy in a hot rod before. They are automotive jewelry!

Hemi Joel beat me to it, but any of the Offy engines would be cool. My personal pick would be one of the 318ci versions.

Nice! I have to save that one. And it captured a hint of the all important HAMB Alliance tag.

I have to agree with Mr. Moriarity regarding his Caddy engine. It's one of only 3 that I have many pix of saved on my computer. And I have hundreds of engine pix saved. Here is a pic of Tony Nancy's nailhead I alluded to above, and a very well dressed flathead; this one in the Larry Selmer-Micky Himsl Moonshiner. Note: I can't find one right now but I'm pretty sure I've seen pix of the Tony Nancy engine with chrome plated original Buick sheet metal valve covers. I like it better with them. Also note that this is a replica engine and I don't have any "good" pix of the original.

    Hello,
Seeing Scotty's Muffler Service Modified Roasdter in person during the 1959 racing season was certainly an eye opener for my brother and me. Here we were in Riverside waiting for the big names, Chrisman, Cyr and Hopper, Gary Cagle to see how they would fair against the hottest from the East Coast and Midwest (Garlits, Langley, Hill, The Greek, etc.) . This was the big name draw for 1959.

But, while walking through the pits, for us, the roadsters took precedence over the big name FED race cars. First it was the orange Speed Sport Roadster that just had its look and sound together for everyone to hear/see. Then it was this white/chrome roadster just sitting wide open in another area of the vast pit location.

But, the roadster that took the top vote by both of us, was the Scotty's Muffler Service white/chrome Modified Roadster that we saw in the pits. We could not walk past without taking a movie that has lasted to this day. It was the most amazing motor set up, the whole roadster looked like it was the America's Most Beautiful rRoadster, and it was powered by an Ardun motor.

    Jnaki
Even as we looked at the 16mm color film a week later, we all voted that Scotty's was the center of the whole Saturday morning to late afternoon race day.
