I'm running "Wheel Vintique's" 16" steel rims on my sedan. 16 x 5 on the front and 16 x 8 on the back. I know Summit sells them but you have to use their hubcaps. Stock Ford caps won't fit. They come with both Ford and Chevy bolt patterns on each rim. I have two 16 x 6 black powder coated rims I could sell but shipping would be expensive. Gary GM-2.jpg

Not originals but Wheel Smith 16's on my deuce highboy pu. 5 inch with 500/16 Excelsior's front and 6 inch on the rear with 750/16 Excelsior's. I did have them fit the hubcaps to the rims. I'd have used original Ford wheels if I could have found some nice ones the right widths.

I run 'em on Old Rusty. My 41pu has 'em as stock.

Ran Coker 16's and caps after the stock A wires proved too whacked to track. Also adapters to mate to stock drums. Running 600's all around (go ahead, laugh), cause I like to rotate em, and like the way things sit with just a reversed eye in front.

Thanks to @ark_rat on the H.A.M.B., finally scored a fine set of '35 wires, coated em black, swapped the tires, lost the spacer/adapters, NOW I'm happy.

If you need the steelies, let me know...roll on buddy. DSC_0125.JPG
Oops, just checked. OP asked about ORIGINAL Steel 16's, and on the "Traditional" forum. Title only said 16" Steelies tho. Gimme the boot if you gotta.

When the 15” rims became harder to find down here, people began using 16”.
I would recommend your rims on the back with narrower 1940 - 16” x 4” on the front.
If you were thinking of going to smaller 15” rims on the front, you may find it difficult to find a rim narrower than the ‘47 ford on the rear.

    I went with 16" x 4.5, with 5.50 x 16 front and 7.50 x 16 rear 20180804_103753.jpg

Loved the chrome wheels, and perfect choice of rim widths.

What, if anything, does this tire size difference do to caster/camber setting ? Need to be reset ??

I salute you Sir, My point exactly. I saw the Chrome reverse as well when I did the search. But that is the order.

My 27 as it was in 1953 with 16s and as it is now with 15s. I think tire size makes more of a difference in looks than wheel size. But 16s would be more traditional if that is important to you.

  27. Reverse popularity is taking place on the HAMB. In the 50's in So Cal, the first thing you did was ditch wide 5's and any other 16 rims in favor of 15". The 16 thing is a nowaday HAMB thing, not OG, it's ok but not the way it was.

Right on. By the early 60s many rods were running 15s. At least where I was from in Cleveland area.
