I totally agree. That said, the unseen stuff is just that--unseen and it does not visually pollute the thread like the Weld "Star" spoke wheels and the huge pro street style rear rollers on a lot of the glass bodied Willys that are showing up lately. One of my customers has a beautiful steel Deuce roadster (DuVall screen, Halibrand clone wheels, dropped axle etc but I would not post pictures of the Winters aluminum housing rear end or the motor which has electronic injection (although Hilborn IR based). Roo I still maintain that some people feel the need to post huge numbers of photos at the cost of era quality thinking that if they don't the thread will die and in all honesty I would much rather there be a lull in the posting to maintain an element of surprise. As far as the "just don't look" attitude goes, there is no need to even open them when there are ten threads in a row that has one avatar name attached to it...................EVERYDAY. As of late there has been so much "overzealous" posting that the lustre has faded from a few of these threads.
There are plenty of cars that are posted here that don’t always impress me but I still like logging in once a day and seeing that something has been posted. Other my disagree. Anyways as a Chevy guy I can still always appreciate a well set up Ford Gasser. I stole this from another thread. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
LOL you gotta laugh At the complainers As far as the "just don't look" attitude goes, there is no need to even open them when there are ten threads in a row that has one avatar name attached to it...................EVERYDAY. As of late there has been so much "overzealous" posting that the lustre has faded from a few of these threads. For your edification I'm not even in the top ten posters And I only post 5 days a week or less. There are many options that are available to the complainers that they stubbornly refuse to avail themselves of. They seem to be under the impression that the HAMB is just for them and everything should be as HOW THEY WANT IT. They forget that others do not share their view and actually enjoy looking at a variety of different subjects. Number one at no cost of time or energy to them is simply STOP clicking on this thread. Or any other thread they find objectionable. It's really that simple. Number two is to use the scroll wheel and pass by any photos you don't like with no comment. And LET OTHERS ENJOY THEM. Number three takes the investment of 10-15 seconds of effort, simply go to any members avatar, go to profile page, and click IGNORE that member. You will never have to look at the offending avatar again ever. Number four START YOUR OWN THREAD for only the cars YOU WANT TO LOOK AT. But of course they will no do any of them.
ATTENTION in the pits. @rooman @DDDenny OK I did the hard part and started a new thread see it here:https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/authentic-tri-five-chevy-gassers.1169085/ Postem if you gotem. Not to worry I will NOT be posting in that thread so you have a safe space all your own to go to now.
I was going to say thanks but after looking at the preamble to the new thread it is obvious that you are simply being a smart arse. The "no spoke wheels" clause in the rules is a prime example. A lot of the cars ran spoke wheels --American Torque Thrust, Cragar etc- what they did not run was spindle mount 12 spokes which the "faker" gassers are trying to emulate with the bolt on 10 spoke units. I am sorry that some of us are trying to keep the HAMB true to its roots. There are plenty of recent builds that genuinely look traditional including those that actually race with groups like Quain Stott's South Eastern Gassers and those are the cars that should be here, not the cartoon cars that make a mockery of the style. Roo
I'm DONE. That thread was made to try and get you to cease and desist your complaining in here. All the things you complain about were removed but you are never happy. The world doesn't revolve around you, other people surely would purchase old time spoked wheels if they could find them and or afford them they like the style and buy what is AVAILABLE now. Whatever after the following batches of the rest of the photos I have saved I'm out of here. and when people ask me why I don't post anymore (and they will) I will tell them.
I hope that you reconsider @loudbang! Alot of us really appreciate what you've done for this thread! You have posted many beautiful cars and your contributions will be sorely missed by most of us! Bottom line... If the mod's are good with what you post, why can't everyone else be? Please don't give up, fight the good fight!
