Just had to share this with the folks who inspire me. I am just starting into my 6th year of putting this car together and am coming near to the end of my build. I say near because are they ever really done? Anyway 6 years ago I had a vision of a black 31 Av8 sitting in my driveway on a sunny afternoon. Me washing and waxing the car. Buzzing the thing around the neighborhood testing, adjusting, and fiddling with things. Well boys I am here to say if you stick to it long enough and put in enough hours, dreams do come true! Started with a pair of bare rails and a Brookeville body that I traded my 47 Ford coupe for and here is where I am as of this afternoon. I did have some assistance from a few friends at various points but the only thing I didn't do was the final paint, although I did do all the prep for it. Just didn't have a spray booth and my HOA frowns on that sort of thing. Be gentle! Its my first completely build hot rod.
A Work of Hotrod Art @GordonC...Congrats on this Milestone...I can imagine the Smile on your Face...You nailed it in my opinion...Thanks for sharing this and remember the journey is just beginning that was the appetizer...
Cool man. I like the pinstripping on the rear fenders. The turn signals mounted under the dash is a unique idea.
Good for you on sticking to it. Now you can reap the rewards. Dont feel bad about it taking 6 years. I'm SUPER slow too.
Kind words. Much appreciated! I have a lot of pics is there something specific you would like to see?
A Link to your build is always good and whenever you take any pics...if you feel they capture the flavor of Hotrod Money Shot...Post it... You've done pretty good so far...How's it Running so far been out and about?
DAMN NICE BUILD ! ! ! Hope you are proud of yourself for doing such a GREAT job. Njoy it and drive the hell out of it. Don't let it be a trailer queen.
Its running really nicely actually. Not sure I can handle a cruise all the way to Mass. with it as that is almost 1100 miles from where I am. I do fit the car and all but it is a bit snug. I think this will be for mostly local stuff although I may trailer it up there. My brother has the twin to this except it is on a 32 chassis and I'd really like to cruise the two of them together before either of us takes the big dirt nap!
Gordon, you’re being a little too modest. I’d say it’s a great day in your neighborhood. Nice work. I’d love to see close ups of your front fender braces as mine have given me some “challenges”.
