Seeing a picture of a rare Horne intake found at Hershey got me thinking.... What historical Hot Rods had Jot's rare one year only intakes? The most famous being Norm's Kookie T. I'd love to see some others.....
Not a car but something interests about Horne, like Jack McAFEE and his Caddy supercharger and intake, they identified a market niche and the rest they say is history. Only 100 Horne intakes were produced before he sold out to Cragar so they are pretty rare and not something you're likely to see as common fodder these days? https://www.hotrod.com/articles/1002rc-the-jot-horne-story/ https://bangshift.com/bangshift1320/horne-cadillac-intake-manifold/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-horne-post.476444/
I'm pretty familiar with the History and "The Horne Post" but really can't think of any cars other than the Kookie T that ran an intake? I'm sure there had to be some others? Maybe not being as rare as they are now and where even back then. The intake collection owned by Titus. What might these have been on when they where new??? If only parts could talk.
Not a famous car by any stretch of the imagination but my Horne equipped caddy powered ford runs as smooth as a gravy sandwich and has unbelievable throttle response.....
I've always loved your '40. Seems there isn't really any historically significant Horn equipped Hot Rods other than the Kookie T. Maybe we should start a thread about just Horn equipped cars period.
here is what looks to me like a Horne equipped sidewinder Olds powered crosley that @loudbang posted. If you look real close at the engine closeup you can see the H in horne. 1956: Bert Kessler and Dean Gammill of Mattoon, Ill, used a diminutive Crosley sedan body to house their gear-driven sidewinder. Most sidewinders favored chains to transfer power to the axle, so gear drive was somewhat novel. This was configured by removing the tail-shaft of a Borg-Warner transmission and in its place welding a gear onto the shaft. The shifting was handled by a hydraulic shifting mechanism. Power was from a 4-carb 324ci Olds appearing rather stock except for twin-coils. The Crosley competed at the NHRA Nationals in Kansas City in 1956. Kinda sad, but I bet there are more Horne intakes sitting on a shelf than are being used on a car. I am guilty, while I am using a Caddy one on my 40, I have a 303 Olds unit sitting on the shelf....
A few years back on eBay there was a few weeks auction runs on Horne products . Thought about buying anything that came up , from intakes to throttle pedal , to start another collection. Didn’t, so saved a pile of one dollar bills.
No intakes, but do have this timing slip from the Lindsley family. Jim Lindsley driving Jot's Duesy powered 32 roadster at El Mirage in '49. I also have a set of Jot Horne designed Cragar SS wheels, does that count? Ha!
Talked to Craig wise for a bit about Jot while out on the salt flats a couple years ago after I had mentioned I had a couple. Hard to find good detailed engine pics in magazines where you can see the logo but the hemis have factory length bolts which the cragars do not. We’re putting an olds on my dads project and another Hemi on my 34 . Hope to find or buy a y block for my t roadster I’m building now.
Hi all. Here’s a pic of a Horne intake manifold. I think it’s for an English Ford a ‘Consul’ I bought it in the USA several years ago and I have it here in the U.K. I don’t really know anything about it. Any info would be greatly appreciated
I have a Horne intake manifold with Holley carburetors and am trying to respond to Titus message. I didn't succeed .

Holy Crap this car is what dreams are made of!!! Please let us know more about it! Is the rear fenders bob'd? Any rear shots?
